Baby Products Reviews of my best friend Inflatable breast feeding pillowCustomer Review: Truly your Best Friend! Summary: 5 Stars
I read the reviews for this pillow, have had experience with the Boppy...and am SOOOO glad that I chose the "My Brest Friend" as my nursing aid! This thing rocks! It gives you an extra hand while nursing...I can walk around, fix toast, load the washer...and the list goes on and on...all while nursing! The pillow accommodates for the football hold and the cradle hold, all while supporting my daughters neck and back. The firm support of the pillow gives her body the support for proper positioning. Wouldn't know what to do without it! Plus for those half awake night-time feeds it allows me to drift off without pulling her off the breast. And I had a c-section...didn't even bother the incision...in fact, it really helped to hold her body's weight instead of me with a sore belly trying to do all the holding. I would greatly recommend this product...and since I'm an OB Nurse, I plan to recommend it to all my patients!
Customer Review: it might be a good thing, but.... Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this pilow online... Wow! what was my surprise when it finally came on the mail..it is HUGE! And I also wondered where to put it after those short months of breast feeding? I guess even if you consider breast feeding for more then 7 months, this is a item that you can definetely live without. Unless you're thinking of having more children, has someone in the family that could later use it, or lives in a big house with plenty space to store all the baby stuff you used for a short time...I guess that other brand might come handy, although not as functional, you can use it later on to support the baby when it seats...
But I do see that this is a great product, with a good idea behind it...just not for moms like me, with limited space, and a common sense of only buying what's necessary. Breast feeding is not that painful that you can't find the best position yourself.
Customer Review: better than the better known pillow Summary: 5 Stars
I stubbornly insisted on the better-known brand nursing pillow that doesn't wrap all the way around the body. Fortunately, my friend left me her Brest Friend before I gave birth. When the time came, the Brest Friend proved to be the better product. The wrap-around-and-hook design made this pillow very stable and easy to transport from room to room (there is no dignity in the first few months of motherhood - it's ok to walk around the house with exposed boobs and a big cushion ring around your body). It is not as bulky around the sides as the other, making it easier and more comfortable to maneuver in the nursing chair. It is stable and sturdy and I recommend it to anyone planning to breastfeed. Now, I have a long torso and did have to place thin pillows under the Brest Friend for best positioning, but I would have had to do that with the other. I HIGHLY recommend this!
Customer Review: A lifesaver! Summary: 5 Stars
A lactation consultant recommended this pillow to me and it was one of the best investments we've made! I have a boppy, too, and the MBF was a little more expensive, but in the first weeks of nursing...well worth it! It fits around any size waist and I loved that I could walk around with the pillow in place when necessary! We used the MBF exclusively for at least the first month. Then when we became a little more coordinated we were able to use the boppy as well.
JUST DON'T dry the cover in the dryer! Yikes! It is hard to find a replacement cover and when you do they are nearly as expensive as buying another pillow. But that was my own fault!
It is nice having this pillow and the boppy. We didn't use the boppy much at first, but now one is our upstairs/stay at home pillow and the other is the downstairs/take along in the car pillow!
Customer Review: Wish I had it in the hospital Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this several weeks after my son was born and it was a huge help. At first it seemed like I needed 4 hands to get my baby latched on. The slippery pillows in the hospital did not do the job of supporting my baby. A lactation consultant recommended a flat pillow. This thing is great. You strap it around your waist and you can position it on the side or center for a cradle or football hold.
Some reviewers complained about a velcro strap -- and the company must have listened because this now has an adjustable seatbelt type latch which is very secure.
When my baby was older I found that I used the Bobby more because it is easier to get in and out of -- but this was definitely better for the first three months.
This pillow was such a help to me that it is now my standard shower gift for new Moms.
