Baby Products Reviews of my best friend Inflatable breast feeding pillowCustomer Review: Great product, great customer service! Summary: 5 Stars
I used the Brest Friend two years ago when my daughter was born, at the recommendation of a lactation consultant. I loved it! It worked wonderfully--much better than the Boppy. I'm quite petite, so I particularly liked that the Brest Friend was so adjustable and could fit close to my body (my newborn would slip into the space between my body and the Boppy), and that there are bumps on the pillow that hold a newborn's head up to just the right spot. I used it until she was several months old and wished I'd had it in the hospital when I was first trying to figure out how to nurse. A great product!
Now I'm due to have my second child, so went to wash the cover of My Brest Friend. The zipper broke, although I'd only washed it a few times. I called Zenoff, using the number on their web site, explained the problem, and asked where I could find a replacement cover. Not only did they volunteer to send me a new cover free of charge, but they walked me through a description of the different covers so I could choose which one to get, and shipped out my choice immediately. I recieved the replacement cover in 3 days. Couldn't be better!
Customer Review: Forget the Boppy -- Brest is BEST Summary: 5 Stars
The My Brest Friend pillow is BY FAR the best baby item we've purchased. Our daughter is 2 months old now and is exclusively breast fed. I ordered this pillow out of desparation after the first week of nursing. She was a small baby and kept sliding off the boppy, and ultimately off the breast which was frustrating for both of us. I went back to the hospital to see the Lactation Consultant and she recommended this pillow.
The hard foam with the raised areas for the baby's head is perfect -- it keeps her comfortable and she never slides off. I love the fact that it attaches to your body -- I've left it on when carrying her to get her diaper changed (and run into the changing table with it about 78 times) and then can come right back to the couch to feed her on the other side without having to readjust.
The only feature I don't care for about the pillow is the pocket in the front -- the elastic is very strong and its hard to put anything in it. If only it were a cupholder!!! :)
Forget the boppy, this is the best pillow for a rookie breastfeeding mom!!
Customer Review: I'm not sure how anyone has a baby without this! Summary: 5 Stars
Some people think of the My Brest Friend and those other U shaped pillows as equivalent- but they are far from it. This pillow attaches around the waist securely, has a firm upper surface and is shaped to comfortably hold the nursling, often without more than a reassuring hand on the baby. I was able to sit comfortably and get a lot of work done at the computer because of this pillow. My babies were able to nap more soundly than if I had transferred them to a bed, and were able to wake up and nurse back to sleep after the first 20 minutes of their naps. (many babies don't fall into a deep sleep the first time they fall asleep- it often takes that second round of nursing and hormone (CCK) production to get a long nap.)
There are women for whom this pillow won't work because of the length of their waist or breast size. Unfortunately it's very hard to determine proper fit while pregnant, but most women should get a pretty good idea if they're uncomfortable during the early days of nursing. A board certified lactation consultant can assist moms best.
Customer Review: My Brest Friend is my VERY BEST friend Summary: 5 Stars
This pillow is a miracle! I bought this pillow prior to the birth of my daughter and I did not take it to the hospital with me. I used regular bed pillows while I was admitted but when I came home and got to try this pillow for the first time it was absolute heaven! It holds her so well;
she's laying on it now as I type this. I often walk around with it still strapped on it to do quick things in the house. When we get up in the morning, I put small necessities (pacifier, breast pads etc.)in the pocket so I can carry the baby, the pillow and other things that i'll need, down the stairs, in one trip. 10 times better than the boppy pillow which doesn't offer as much support for your baby or your back. I can't wait to buy this pillow for my next pregnant friend! Now I just wish they would offer it in prettier patterns! P.S. you can put your cereal bowl on the pillow to eat without leaning to the coffee table... and you can also read on the pillow. It has been a major part of my readjustment to life after first baby :) Many uses for the busy, tired mommy.
Customer Review: Good pillow, but annoying to strap on and off. Summary: 4 Stars
I have the MBF pillow with the clasp, not the velcro, so I don't have the noise issues that owners of some of the older pillows complain about. The pillow stays put and helps me position the baby so that I can feed her without tiring out my arm. However, most of the time, it is cumbersome to hold a squirming, hungry baby and try to strap on this huge pillow. It isn't at all convenient to come to the baby wearing the pillow because it is so bulky and hard to bend over with it on. Taking it off is even more burdensome. I often change the baby's diaper between breasts and the pillow just gets in the way. But then, it is hard to wriggle myself out of the pillow while holding the baby and trying to get up from the bed, where I have been feeding her. Honestly, I prefer feeding the baby on my rocking chair where I can use the arms for added support. That way, I can get up easily when I need to, without having a giant pillow strapped to my waist. This pillow is decent, but not an essential baby item in my opinion.
