Baby Products Reviews of my best friend Inflatable breast feeding pillowCustomer Review: Couldn't live without it Summary: 5 Stars
This is infinitely better than the Boppy which did not even fit over my post-partum belly.
I took an inflatable "My Brest Friend" to the hospital with me and the lactation consultants commented that this was the best nursing pillow available. Unfortunately, I got it caught in the adjustable hospital bed and caused a leak. The first thing I did once I was home and able to use the computer was order this pillow.
I used this pillow for every nursing session for the first few weeks. Now that my baby has some head control I sometimes use a regular pillow propped on the arm of my chair. However, I strap the My Brest Friend around me EVERY time my baby needs to nurse at night (when I'm not laying down). I keep this pillow by my bedside. I could prop the baby on regular bed pillows on my lap, but they are not nearly as comfortable as this pillow. If I fall asleep, the baby could roll into me and get his face buried between me and the pillows on my lap. This is virtually impossible with My Brest Friend. This nursing pillow is a firm but soft foam, the baby does not sink into it like a regular bed pillow. It is flat so that the baby will not roll off.
I am a size 12/14/16 and the My Brest Friend fits perfectly. The waist belt is about in the middle for me . A somewhat larger or smaller person could use it with no problems.
Customer Review: My 1st baby : ) ... It WASN'T our/"My Brest Friend"... Summary: 1 Stars
"My Brest Friend" was the first breast feeding pillow I purchased/tried.
It looked like a quality product (durable support cushion, removable/washable cover) BUT I ended up hating it!
I thought it's stiffness would be good support, but it just ended up being UNCOMFORTABLE.
It was awkward to wear (during feeding and after) as it got in the way while putting my son down.
And to take it off (due to the LOUD velcro strap) you have to leave the room so you don't scare or wake your baby.
I was going to try a "Boppy" when I came across the "Le' Cuddler".
It's like a "Boppy" but COSTS LESS and has a GREAT (lapbelt/harness) FEATURE not found on "Boppy" or any other.
It's PERFECT for breastfeeding, burping, and proping your little one up on their back or belly during the "tummy time" phase.
I found my "Le' Cuddler" at WalMart for $20!
It's also available on this website (see my "Le Cuddler" review) as well as the manufacturer's site www.leachco.com
Leachco offers some really neat products at really REASONABLE competitive prices.
When you're breastfeeding you need something that's supportive yet comfortable; for both you and your baby.
Therefore, I DO NOT recommend "My Brest Friend".
It was neither comfortable nor convenient for me.
Customer Review: OK pillow--not crazy about it but works Summary: 3 Stars
I inherited this breastfeeding pillow and I both love it and hate it.
PROs:
-The pillow stays put. I've tried a Boppy and while it's easy to put on, it tends to move around a lot. This was really helpful when getting my baby to latch properly when he was first born (I had to try so many different positions and this pillow was wonderful at it!).
-The pillow is WIDE, which can be both a pro and a con. I love how wide it is now that my son is 3.5 months old--he still fits comfortably on it! I used my friend's Boppy a week ago and noticed my son did not fit as comfortably on it.
CONs:
-I HATE the velcro closure. It is so LOUD it often wakes my sleeping baby.
-The pillow is WIDE so I often have to nurse my son sitting at the edge of my glider, which is not the most comfortable for me. It's better to use this pillow on a sofa or bed.
-It's hard to use--I need two hands to put it on, although I'm getting a lot better at putting it on with one hand now (yes, it only took me 3.5 months to get used to that!). Now I have a system where I put it on and then pick my baby up from his crib to nurse him.
-The cloth cover is horrible. It is so faded from just a few washings...it doesn't stand up like the Boppy fabric does (I've only used the Boppy Luxe--not sure about other Boppy fabrics).
Customer Review: Worth it's weight in gold! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this thing! When we took our breastfeeding class this pillow was suggested as being the best, but with so many other things to buy for baby we decided to wait and see if we could use what we had (boppy, pillows, etc.). It seemed like a lot of money for a pillow. Well of course I had trouble. Other options don't give you the stability or support that you need, especially in the beginning when you don't know what you are doing. I ended up going to see a lactation consultant, while there I used their My Breast Friend and it made it so much easier. She even showed me how to use rolled up blankets to prop up the baby's head so that I could have both hands free to drink water, eat a snack, or read a book. You could not do that with a boppy. It helped so much, to be able to do something that I enjoyed when I was stuck in that chair all day, kept me from feeling like I was just a milk machine. Of all the baby products that we got, we did not need a crib, a highchair, a bouncer, a bassinet, or even really a breast pump and bottles. But I needed this pillow! I think we could have avoided some early problems if we had just bought one early and taken it to the hospital. I do think that the new latch looks better than the velcro that mine has and no, the cover really does not wash that well, but it is a great pillow anyway.
Customer Review: Boppy is not "ALL THAT" Summary: 5 Stars
Gals, I'm telling you.... I was fortunate enough to find this pillow elsewhere before it was available at BRU and I LOVED using it from Day 1 (literally). When my husband arrived at my hospital room with this pillow, all the nurses and lactation consultants had to check it out. They all raved about how GREAT it was. This pillow allowed me to successfully breastfeed my daughter for 8 months. This pillow is so great - not only was I comfortable while nursing, but I was also able to DO things at the same time. I could read a book, talk on the phone, clip coupons, write, use my Medela breastpump on the other breast, etc. I was even able to carefully get up and answer the phone or door without disturbing baby! The three features that make it SO much nicer than the Boppy are: the velcro enclosure (with lumbar support), the FLAT top surface with raised "pillows" for baby's head (baby won't roll into or away from you), and the fact that it won't squish and "deflate" over time (it is still as firm now as it was when I bought it). I did buy a Boppy pillow to use at my mom's house because it was cheaper to have for an extra. Although I was able to use it for padding once my daughter began sitting upright on the floor, for nursing purposes it never came CLOSE to this pillow.
