Baby Products Reviews of Vulli Sophie the Giraffe TeetherCustomer Review: A must for all babies!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this after seeing it and reading all of the wonderful reviews.
Our daughter was about 3 months old when we introduced her to Sophie. Right away you could tell she was interested in this cute little multifunctional and purposeful toy. Her eyes quickly widened and she was constantly just looking at her.
Within a week or so, she started to reach for her and now she is holding her constantly and chews on her several times throughout the day. Sophie comes with us everywhere!!! Our daughter is teething already and has been for several weeks now...so this has proven to be the perfect toy by far! Also, I would recommend getting a pacifier holder, (one with snap may be best) to put around Sophie's neck and to attach to your baby's bib, car seat, whatever you choose. Sophie is smaller, and with your baby trying to figure her out, it may end up on the floor, or worse, lost for good. ;(
Again, it's a must...get one for your baby, and she/he will love on her for months to come!

Customer Review: Sophie the Giraffe Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my 7 month old daughter. I read all the great reviews about how babies LOVE this. I didn't find my daughter to be so enthusiastic, but she did and still does enjoy it. I bought it specifically because it was supposed to help with teething, but my daughter doesn't chew on it. She likes to just hold it and occasionally squeak it. :)Which, when I'm trying to entertain her, works out well. She will allow herself to be entertained for about 5 or 10 minutes and then she's on to the next. I gave it 4 stars because I do think it's a good toy, but expensive! My suggestion if you do need something to ease teething pains and you want a really cheap solution, without using the baby oragel, is to get an ice cube and put it in one of those little mittens you buy when you're child is a newborn so they don't scratch themselves. Then, just let them suck on it. Sometimes if it's too cold put two little mittens on it. This in the end turned out to be the best experiment I tried out for my daughter to ease her pain.
Customer Review: Wonderful toy, all babies should have one, but be careful/stay close by! Summary: 5 Stars
My 4 month old loves Sophie so much! I have other toys but this is the ONLY one she enjoys chewing and really goes to town on her head! She can grab her legs & neck easily. The only thing I would be careful of is to stay nearby while your infant is small and eating sophie (common sense right?). My daughter has been able to grab sophie and put her in her mouth during tummy time for a while but a few weeks ago when she was 3 months she grab the giraffe up side down and got the leg in her mouth but couldn't move her head off it and ended up gaging a little, I was 2 feet away so I caught her in 5 seconds, no harm, just a startled baby & mama- just watch out. I STILL love sophie and have a ton of pictures of her eating sophie. Note: you can not sterilize, not dishwasher safe, so we wash in warm soapy water, (so far no paint has come off) but there is an annoying hole for the squeeker so you can't submerge her (minor details but if you have thrush you might want to wait until it is gone to play with toy).
Customer Review: Great Teether Summary: 4 Stars
My six month old daughter LOVES her Sophie.
Yes, it looks and sounds like a dog toy, but it is also made of safe materials and I am sure dog toys are not given the same care. My daughter does occasionally get a giraffe leg pretty far into her mouth and it makes her gag, but she's not really choking. Sophie's body gets in the way and it's not like she could swallow it.
We actually like how much interest the dog is showing in the toy (thanks to the squeak) because it's given us a great opportunity to make sure the dog understands that whatever the baby has (no matter how exciting it may look/smell/sound) is absolutely NOT hers. It's worked really well.
Sophie is perfect for teething because it has just enough flexibility, it is easy for my daughter to hold, and it is clear it makes her teeth feel better. I say register for it for a shower or birthday and hope someone buys it for you, so then you don't have to worry about whether or not it is overpriced.
Customer Review: Don't buy it--the painting falls off! And the product is diff from BRU Summary: 1 Stars
I am very angry to find out that this teether having serious painting issues. And more surprisingly, it is different from the one selling in store at Baby R US! I bought this for my baby 3 months ago when he was 6 months old. However, pretty soon after I got it, I found the painting on the Giraffe's head and legs was peeling off. So I stopped giving it to my baby. And just recently I saw a discussion online and a bunch of moms all complained the painting issue with this teether. And guess what? They all bought it from Amazon! One mom pointed it out that the product she got from Amazon looks totally different from the one she bought from BRU. And she had no painting problem with the one from BRU. So I went to BRU store and checked it out myself. And I was angry to see it was true! The Giraffe selling in BRU is light pink comparing to the brown color I bought form Amazon. I won't say the one on Amazon is fake. But I won't recommend to buy it on Amazon, after spending so much money!
