Customer Review: Sophie Is Worth the Price!

Yes, it's imported. Yes, it's expensive. And yes, I love it and so does my baby girl! This giraffe is made of natural rubber. It is so easy for my five month old to hold onto and to chew. She especially loves the legs, though she recently found the head and has begun to chew on Sophie's ears, horns and mouth. Sophie also makes a squeaky noise. My girl can chew on Sophie for a long time and she doesn't get frustrated because it is so easy to stick Sophie into her mouth. So far, this has been her favorite toy to chew on. I've read some reviews where people say their children didn't like Sophie. I think it's inevitable that some kids won't like Sophie. But personally, I think it's worth a try. If your baby likes Sophie, she will be a great toy. If not, hey, give Sophie away to another mom to try with her baby. Also, I think trying a toy over and over again may help. My little girl didn't quite get Sophie right away at four months, but I kept putting Sophie in front of her and encouraging her by sticking one of Sophie's legs in her mouth. It took her a couple days, but once she understood she could chew away easily on Sophie, she loved her!Customer Review: Easy to hold and safe

My 8 month old has had Sophie for about 3 months now (his first teeth cut through at 4 months); he loves it and it's easy for him to hold. He gets very excited about the squeaky noise he can create himself. For me, it's great piece of mind knowing that it's BPA and PVC-free. I also like that IT'S NOT MADE IN CHINA!!! I'm so tired of teething rings with painted crap on them that I know is going into my child's system. Some other reviewers have negatively commented on the toy's appearance. If you are purchasing this because it is BPA and PVC-free, I find it odd that aesthetics would be so fundamentally important in the 'teething toy category'. We love Sophie so much that we actually purchased some other teethers/toys from the same company and I plan to purchase more as gifts. I really wish I had known about Sophie (and similar products) with my first child.
This toy is definitely pricey, but I find that we take much better care of it and also pay more attention to her whereabouts so as to not lose her. My toddler always asks if we have Sophie for his brother prior to leaving the house; it's like she's part of the family now :)

I was a little skeptic reading all the positive reviews on this little Sophie the Giraffe Teether. For $20.00 I thought it would be worth the shot to see how my baby liked it. From day one he loved the Sophie teether. He is not yet holding on to things so he can't hold Sophie yet but he will suck on any part of the giraffe. Each part of the giraffe is a little different, for example the nose is real pointy and somewhat similar to a pacifier. The ears, back of neck, neck, legs, cheeks all give your baby areas to suck and teeth. I did also notice my baby staring at Sophie and recognizing her dots. From the info and reviews this is supposed to stimulate the babys eye's and brain. Knowing Sophie is BPA free is also a plus. These $5 teethers you can buy at Walmart may not be the best option for your baby. Spend the extra $15 and get a teether that your baby will enjoy and you know that is safe. My baby is also still getting used to the squeaking sound but Im sure he will like it as he gets older.

I'll admit that I was skeptical -- a $[...] teether crafted by hand in the French Alps from all natural rubber and paint -- I thought it was all hype. But I bought one anyway and quickly realized that this is not only the best teether on the market, it's also one of the best toys in general for 4-6 month olds. I got this for my son a little early, around 3 months. It wasn't until he was 4 months that he really started to like it. Now that he's 5 months old he and his Sophie the Giraffe are all but inseparable. We've offered him other teethers but nothing appeals to him like his Sophie the Giraffe. Now I won't leave home without it. If we're out and he starts to get fussy, all I have to do is pull out the giraffe and squeak it and he'll smile and reach for it. The way it's shaped is perfect for his little hands and mouth. Sometimes he'll grab the giraffe with both hands around the neck and chew on the feet. Other times he'll grab one leg in each hand and chew on the giraffe's ears. I have so many pictures of my son smiling with a giraffe's foot dangling out of one side of his mouth. In anticipation to my daughter starting to teeth I was searching for a safe non-toxic teething toy and found Sophie...we received it in the mail and gave it to our daughter to play, she enjoyed her right away...she loves to put Sophie in her mouth and chew away...I must say that it sometimes does not satisfy the biting craving she has, but she keeps her busy and happy and it's no doubt one of her favorite toys. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a safe teether...only thing is follow the instructions on how to clean Sophie as I have gotten water inside of her and kind of messed her up a little, but you should be fine if you just make sure that you don't do that and clean her with a damp cloth as it is recommended...I chose to not care about getting water in because I would rather clean her well with soap as Sophie often ends up in the hands of other little ones and sometimes falls to the floor...this is why I gave her 4 stars on durability, but it should not be an issue when choosing to purchase her...Sophie is totally worth the price, your little one will surely enjoy her and it will last a long chewy time.
