Classic wooden spelling blocks are available in a Braille version. Great for families with visually-impaired members, whether parents or children. These large (nearly two inches cubed) basswood letter blocks are also admired by teachers for the use of lower-case letters. This set does not feature sign language imprints (found elsewhere). Made with child-safe, non-toxic inks in a small factory in Michigan. Each large (1-3/4 inches square), all-wood block is carefully sanded for smoothness, embossed, and finished with child-safe, nontoxic paint. Two sides of each block feature recessed letters with Braille symbols. The remaining four sides picture animals, numbers, math symbols, and letters. The 16-piece set of Braille math blocks make a nice companion to this set. I bought these blocks when my son was 14 months old, and they've been one of his favorite toys ever since. I bought the Braille version because, as an elementary teacher turned stay-at-home mom, I wanted him to see both the upper AND lower case letters! He LOVES these blocks - always building and knocking down towers, and he loves to run around the house saying the name of the letter he's carrying!! I highly recommend these - bigger and more durable than most others on the market, and the Braille version includes lower case letters!
