Baby Products Reviews of Traveling Toddler Car Seat Travel AccessoryCustomer Review: Traveled Solo With Toddler Summary: 4 Stars
It is hard to believe that something so simple and inexpensive could be so helpful. But it was. I traveled solo with my two year old child recently using this product. We stopped at very busy airports along the way dashing from one terminal to the next to make connections. This product helped me to move a very heavy Brittax carseat quickly just by strapping it onto a piece of luggage. Because of this item I was able to carry-on a medium size backpack, an overhead suitcase, a carseat, and a two year old all by myself. I gave four stars instead of three because security checkpoints are so strict, airplanes so crowded, and layovers so tight that it leaves little time to gather items and reattach the strap to the carseat and suitcase in between flights. Overall, the product did make my travel experience more manageable. Suggestions 1.Use a sturdy carryon with good wheels. 2.Bring the smallest, lightest carseat you have because airplanes are too narrow to wheel carseat/suitcase down the aisle. You will have to carry each item onto the plane. 3.Allow an extra 10-15 minutes between fights so you have time to carry all items from the plane, including your child, and also reattach the strap.
Customer Review: Great product for traveling with a toddler Summary: 4 Stars
I was initially skeptical about this product, but after reading the reviews on Amazon decided I didn't have much to lose for $14.99. I just got back from a trip to San Francisco with my 23 month old daughter, and I have to say that I really appreciated being able to attach the carseat to my roller suitcase (regular, business-size suitcase) while going through the airport. It was especially helpful navigating the airport after the red-eye flight. I didn't know if I'd be able to maneuver the carseat attached to the suitcase successfully or safely with my daughter sitting inside, but it really worked beautifully, and I overheard a few "what a great idea" comments as I walked through the airport.
A couple of cons--it is a little cumbersome to attach the carseat to the suitcase, only to have to remove it while going through security and then re-attach it on the other side. Also, together with the suitcase, the car seat (Britax Diplomat) was almost too wide to wheel down the aisle of the airplane, but it just made it.
All in all, though, I really appreciated a product that I could easily attach and then stow easily when not in use.
Customer Review: What an incredible little helper! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Traveling Toddler before a long trip with several layovers. We were taking our 2 year old's carseat. This strap was the best thing EVER. It attached very easily in about 2 minutes (less as I got better at doing it). It allowed my husband to only have to care for our daughter while I easily pulled all of our carryon baggage in one piece. Even during the one very fast layover where we literally ran from one of the Denver airport to the other, I had no problem pulling our carryon, carseat, and several small bags.
The picture on the package shows you being able to actually use it as a stroller. This might be true if you have a very solid carryon. Ours is cheap, though, and I'm sure couldn't handle the weight of our toddler in her carseat. But I didn't intend to use it that way anyway. Instead, what we got was a great way to attach our seat to our luggage and a great, SAFE place for our daughter to sit where she couldn't run off.
I highly recommend buying the traveling Toddler. It's way cheaper than buying a fancy carseat dolly and it is so small that it easily stores in your suitcase when not in use.
Customer Review: Eh, it's ok Summary: 3 Stars
ok, here's the deal with this thing....it's hard to get on and off. in fact, i never attempted it. my husband was in charge of that situation. we strictly used this item to attach the carseat to one of our bags. we never used it as a "Stroller" of sorts for our son to ride in. it was just an easy way to get all our bags and car seat to the check-in counter. once at check-in that car seat got checked and we just used an umbrella stroller (you can take them on airplanes, it's ok) through the airport, which we didn't even use ALL that much b/c the more our 2 year old could run around, the less he'd want to run on the airplane. anyway...we felt it served our purposes, however, i wouldn't use it through the airport. i'd hate to get that thing in and out of security. it's just not THAT easy to attach and unattach. it's a great idea in theory, but the reality is that it's not great for everything it claims to be. I hope that makes sense. 5 stars for being able to attach it and get it into the airport (frees up hands), but beyond check-in...i dunno, wouldn't use it. would probably be a pain. Unless you REALLY practiced with it.
Customer Review: Great idea and product for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I checked out the Sit N Stroll and the Go Go Kidz TravelMate before deciding to try the Traveling Toddler. The Sit N Stroll seemed really great, switched easily from car seat to stroller and would have been one less thing to travel with, but the back recline does not adjust and it was too far back for my 2 year old to use as a stroller all day. I really liked the Traveling Toddler. It works great. It's a little annoying that you have to take it apart to go through security etc but it's easy enough to put back together. I used the largest carry-on I was allowed and it worked beautifully. My daughter loves her carseat (Britax Marathon) and was loving sitting in and being pushed around. (Make sure your carry-on pull locks upright or you can't push it in front of you, you'll have to pull it and I found it easier to push.) I saw someone else with the Go Go thing and it looks great but for nearly triple the price, I got this one since I don't fly often. A must-have if you need the car seat on the plane or your destination b/c you can also check the car seat and use this strap before/after in the airport instead of carrying it.
