Customer Review: fun mobile... the music box is great
Summary: 5 Stars

We had originally bought a cute mobile that matched my son's bedding set but you had to wind it and it only played for a minute or two. He would cry when it stopped... 2 minutes isn't long enough to go do anything... we didn't use it to put my son to sleep (but it wouldn't have been long enough for that either). Then several moms suggested this mobile to me and we got it when my son was about a month old. He loved it. It kept him entertained and the music was great. I love the fact that its plays for 15 minutes or so and shuts off on its own. (NOTE... we never used the remote... just get the cheaper model without it). We took the mobile part off once he could sit up and he could turn the music box on himself. We now have baby #2 on the way and I bought another Symphony mobile (minus remote) so that my son could keep the music box in his crib, he still turns it on every day at nap time. We have used this every day for 14 months now and only had to change the batteries a couple times... not bad. At first I thought the mobile was going to be over stimulating but we don't own many toys that require batteries (didn't even have a bouncy) so I didn't mind one product that was a little flashier.

Customer Review: Best Mobile Ever!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this mobile when my daughter was two weeks old and she has loved it ever since! It looks a little freakish (my husband calls the animals 'psycho, blood-thirsty donkeys'!), but babies LOVE it! Something about the colors, the movement, and the sliding charms above the animals really captivate babies' attention. At only ten weeks old, my daughter actually squeals with excitement as she watches it!

As one reviewer mentioned, you do need slats in order to attach it, but I believe all cribs have slats on the two long sides at least. We attached the mobile to one of the long sides instead of the head or foot of the crib and it works great. We have an iron crib with cylindrical slats and still no problem.

Don't waste money on the remote because the mobile has an auto-timer.

It is so much fun to turn it on and watch the expressions of awe and delight on my baby's face. I can also put her under it for ten minutes while I shower in the morning and not worry about her crying or being bored!

The only drawback to this mobile is that my daughter loves it so much it runs out of batteries very quickly!

Customer Review: Great! While it lasted...
Summary: 3 Stars

This fantastically colored and designed mobile held my baby enthralled. The classical music was easy on MY ears (though I found I would hum the pieces over and over).

Once I wrangled the batteries in and screwed the cover shut, installation was easy for my Jenny Lind style crib.

I thought the remote was sort of silly. I just want to point out that you can get all three composer's music to play with the remote, even though another reviewer had a problem with this. It's not very intuitive - you have to press the bottom button on the remote.

Now here's where the review heads south. After about two months, I started encountering problems with getting the mobile to play and spin. First the music developed a scary loud scratchy hum that made my baby cry. Replacing the batteries fixed that problem. Then I was unable to get the mobile to spin. The base plays if I remove the wand with the mobile. Sometimes, if I jiggle it just right, the mobile will spin and play. But inevitably it stops again. VERY FRUSTRATING!

5 stars for design and music choice.
1 star for very frustrating low quality.

Customer Review: Don't Buy This Mobile!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I rated this mobile one star because there wasn't a choice for no stars!! This mobile is the worst one I've ever had the displeasure of using. The music is irritating, and not because it's classical. I love classical music. It's annoying because there are too many high pitches which have startled my baby when trying to go to sleep. Even though the music has a "low" and "high" setting, it still did the same thing even when turned to the "low" position. Also, there are some pieces attached to the arms that are supposed to slide as the mobile revolves. This might sound like a good idea, but they're very loud when they slide and hit the ends of the arms. I had to tape mine so they wouldn't move because it's even louder than the "low" music that's playing! And, the straw that broke this mobiles back, was the fact that it fell on my son's head!! The mobile attaches to a turning mechanism which, coincidentally, stopped turning too. Yes, it was assembled correctly, so it's not one of those things where the consumer is to blame! Anyway, if you're looking for mobiles...keep looking. This one has WAY too many problems.

Customer Review: Great for fussy babies day and night
Summary: 4 Stars

Our daughter screamed all the time her first two months. AFter the first two months we needed something to distract, soothe and entertain her and at that point we bought this mobile. When we turned it on, within minutes she would quiet down and begin to coo and kick. She is now 4.5 months and still loves the energy the mobile exudes. This item is a God-send. My daughter smiles and looks for the mobile when across the room. We believe it encourages her to really get excited and get exercise. and we get some rest.
Pros: colorful, 10-minute entertainment (enough to visit the bathroom or eat something), visually stimulating with black and white spirals, and additional moving pieces, large enough to fill entire view and be placed directly overhead or away to get the baby to move her gaze to either the left or right, hanging animals are machine washable if dust is a concern. If the child is distracted and happy with the item then it is worth the money.
Cons: no mute for the music, perhaps easy to break if not careful, the music quality is a bit circus-like and not high-quality, item is pricey
