Baby Products Reviews of The Ultimate Baby Wrap in NavyCustomer Review: I like it alot ........don't love it Summary: 4 Stars
I have tried several carriers and slings (snuggly, maya sling, maya wrap pouch, premaxx) and so far this is the most comfortable and useful sling that I have found. The other slings were either too bulky, lacked the capacity to adjust to my height (5' 1"), too difficult to learn to use or just plain uncomfortable. I tried my first carrier when he just when he was just three weeks old and was not pleased. He was not comfortable and would fuss or cry in them. I love the idea of carrying my baby close to me, but feel that I have lost some time as far as that goes trying to find the right wrap. My son is now 4 months old and we finally found this sling which is comfortable for both of us. Other reviewers have commented on the comfort of this one and they are correct...no pressure points, no cutting and digging into the muscles of the shoulders and no tight edges to cut into the baby's tender little legs. In this wrap he does not fuss at all and enjoys being close to me. Because he is now longer a newborn, I can't rate it's efficiency with newborns. The wrap is very easy to learn to use. It comes with a video, but I haven't even looked at it yet; the simple illustrated instruction sheet is very easy to understand. I only have minor complaints about this product and they won't apply to everyone's situation..
1. Breastfeeding for a child my son's age (4 mos., and likes to face out and look around)is difficult when worn as illustrated for that position.
2. It's not complimentary to my wardrobe, and you can't just toss it on and off easily. I think the perfect wrap would be one with this comfort level, that could be easily put on and taken off.
I really thing that not one wrap will meet all the needs of a parent that will be using a carrier alot. I do like this carrier very, very much and am happy to finally find one that is comfortable, versatile, and easy to use, and is nearly perfect. I think that carrier is pretty safe, however all safety precautions must be taken when carrying a baby in any wrap.......no carrier or wrap is ever failsafe.
Customer Review: I'd give it ten stars if it were an option Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the best sling ever. When pregnant with #3 since there was only an 18month difference between her and #2 I knew I needed hands free help. I thought I wanted the "New Native" that all the celebs rave about, my mom saw this and thought it was what I wanted. I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I kept it and did not get the other. Once I overcame my own predjudice and watched the How To video (a must do) I put this on and was never happier. A year after #3 came #4 so I have been using this daily for walking housework feeding you name it I use it and love it, people I know who had the new native saw how hands free and easy this is and bought it as well.
My kids are big and unlike the snugli I had with #1 or the Bjorn I had with #2 when put on correctly(the tighter around the waist the better) this takes all the kid's weight off my back. Without changing a single strap or needing to lay the child down I can switch from front carry to sling carry, with no help from another adult. The beautiful thing is the wrap is safe for all of them so whoever wants a ride on mom can have one.
Can't praise it enough, I love it!!!!
Yes the complaints can be justified. If it is not on correctly (which after 2 years of constant use I still have bad moments) it will stretch out after hours of wear but the stretch is the key to putting it on correctly, pull it as tight as possible. As long as you put it on super tight it will not stretch enough for the baby to fall out(this I have seen with other slings).Traditional slings do not make it possible to carry a toddler while wearing your infant, I've tried them all. My kids are huge, my newest was an 8lb preemie and is now 4 months and over 19lbs,I have major shoulder issues from a car accident and terrible back issues from lifting my kids, I don't feel any pressure on my back or shoulders when wearing correctly.
Customer Review: How did I live without one?! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my 3rd baby, my 2nd attempt at baby wearing. My son was 10lbs at birth and carrying him in a sling qucikly hurt my upper back. I used a heart2heart at a play group, but it was out if my price range. MIL bought me this wrap and I am so greatful. I can wear baby and push my 2 year old in an umbrella stroller. No buky double stroller! I'm able to do house work and tend to my other two. I can wear her for hours while shoping, and I have. A sling was painful after 10 minutes or so. I read s comment about no head support for tummy-to-tummy. What I do is take the piece over my shoulder, opposite of what her head is facing and pull it over. She's mostly covered, but still has her face out the breathe. I've had her in the wrap since she was a week old. That's when I got it. I found the easiest way to get her out from tummy-to-tummy when she's sleeping is slide my arm under the fabric and hold her body. With your other hand, slide the piece of fabric all the way off and then the other side. Voila! Lift baby up a little and she is out. As you can see, I'm a big fan of this wrap. I do find it can get a little hot in the house, but any carrier will. You have body heat right against you. I often wear it all day to avoid putting it on again. You just have to flatten the pieces holding the baby again. However, it is easy to put on. I got it after watching the video twice. It does drag on the floor when you put it on, but I like the other poster's suggestion of putting it on before you leave home. I find it rim enough to wear under my leather jacket, as I often do once DD is in her car seat when leaving a mall. Please, try this if want to wear your baby with the versatility of 5 different positions and without back pain as it's spread across both shoulders and the lower back.
Customer Review: THE BEST CARRIER HANDS DOWN Summary: 5 Stars
I have never bothered to write a review before, but in this case I feel compelled. I have 3 daughters and own almost every type of carrier that exists, including the front carrier, the sling, the backpack thing, the side hip thing, you name it. I was forever in search of the perfect, every-scenario, comfortable-yet-practical carrier. I found it in this one. My youngest is 7 months old and - no kidding - has been in this wrap every single day since she was one week old. First of all, it's the most comfortable carrier you'll ever wear. The soft t-shirt type material does not create a single pressure point, the babies weight (mine is about 16 lbs)gets evenly distributed, and there is absolutely no back ache like with other carriers. It's versatile. As an infant they are cradled inside in a lying down or diagonal position, then, upright and facing in. Later, as with my baby, on the side hip position. They can also face out or ride on your back. All this with the same tie, which, I might add at this time, is not complicated once you do it 2 or 3 times. it takes about 20 seconds to get on. When baby is in it, they feel the same thing they felt in the womb - weightlessness, warmth, and the familiar pattern of your everyday movements. They are either quietly alert or asleep. On the outside, it looks like you're wearing a little cozy cocoon. You can nurse with it on. I take my baby to work and I wore her constantly as an infant while having my hands free. now she crawls around but gets in the wrap when she is tired or fussy and it's instant gratification for both of us. Not a day goes by when I'm not approached on the street by strangers asking about this wrap. I thought I had to spread the word even more. Makes a terrific baby gift. You will not regret this purchase.
Customer Review: Greatest Carrier on the Market Summary: 5 Stars
I just had my 3rd baby and someone gave this carrier at my shower. At first, I was thinking that I would return it because I already have 3 other carriers that I used with my older two... that being said, I always complained about how much the others hurt my shoulders, neck and back. I read some reviews about this wrap and decided to give it a try. I have to admit that when I opened it up I almost put it away before even trying it. It looked a little weird and I wasn't quite sure it was worth all the fuss. I stuck in the video and watched it for 2 minutes and decided to try it. It took me about 5 minutes the first time to figure out how to make it comfortable for me and my daughter but after a little fiddling I put my daughter inside. I walked around and tried it out... checking out it would feel... LITERALLY, within seconds my daughter was asleep. I realized that this gave her a cocooned "womb-like" feeling and she was so happy and relaxed. The next day I put it on to go for a walk with my family and again, she was asleep in minutes. I walked for about an hour and when I got home, realized that I wasn't in ANY PAIN at all. The carrier didn't pull on my shoulders at ALL!!!! I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS Oh yeah, just for fun put my 18 month old inside also and he loves it as much as the baby!!!! I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS CARRIER!!! Oh yeah, after the 2nd day I was able to whip this carrier on in about 30 seconds flat. It's way easier than any of the others... it just looks a little intimidating, but if you try it on it's AMAZING!!!
