Baby Products Reviews of The Shrunks Tuckaire Toddler Inflatable Travel BedCustomer Review: If you have kids and travel...this is what you need! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this inflatable bed for my 2 year old so we can have something when we travel to hotels or anywhere for that matter. We have had the traditional air bed in the twin and queen size without the side barriers. My older son would constantly roll off the bed since it is much easier to roll off an air bed compared to a regular bed. The side barriers keeps my 2 year old in place all night. It is perfect for traveling with as it comes with a nice bag and pump with various attachments. I'm considering buying another one since both my kids fight over who gets the "kids" air bed! My 5 year old fits fine in it and I could see him being able to use it for another couple of years.
Cons to this bed compared to traditional air beds:
1. This bed takes 10X longer to blowup compared to the aerobed pump technology. It probably takes about 8-10 minutes to blowup
2. The only way to deflate it is to squeeze out the air which takes time as well. Aerobed's pump will suck out the air in less than a minute.
However, I would much rather have the Toddler inflatable bed for my kids over the regular size beds. The bed is also very durable as I have not had any issues with leaks and the pump is going strong after about 25 blow ups!
Customer Review: Worked Perfect! Exactly what I Wanted :) Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this after our son turned 2 and we moved him out of his crib and into a twin bed. We used to use the pack n' play for travel, but now we weren't going to if he wasn't in a crib- plus he was getting sliiiightly too big. But we also didn't want him 1)Falling off of a regular bed or 2)sleeping on the floor. This was the perfect solution! He slept on it for a week at my sisters over the holiday and loved it! It takes a standard crib sheet which is perfect, cuz I had some packed up. He called it his big boy bed and never rolled off. It never needed re-inflating. However, I already owned an electric pump which I used instead so I never even tried the manual one that came with this one.
Note- I personally would advise to tuck a blanket or two around the air mattress itself before the sheet (even if the weather isn't cold. And that's not just this air mattress- they all have a tendancy to almost "suck" the heat out of your body because you have a pocket of cooler air right beneath you. So I tucked 2 blankets and a sheet into the groove all the way around between the "mattress" part and the "rail" part- worked great.. he stayed toasty warm in Michigan in December!
Excellent purchase, would buy again!
Customer Review: Great transitional travel bed Summary: 4 Stars
I was searching for a travel sleep solution for my 3 yr old. At home she still sleeps in a crib, she's way too big for the pack-n-play and forget about having her sleep in the bed with us! This bed appeared to be the ticket! It's the perfect size and her crib sheets fit on the matress perfectly. The only negative is the "side rails" are not going to keep your kid on the matress. The first night I found my daughter halfway on the floor, she was falling off from the top of the matress. Seems she was "chasing" the pillow that kept creeping up and off the matress. To solve this problem we wedged the matress between the two queen beds with the top against the night stand. Problem solved and no more falling out of bed. It does need to be said that the matress is only a few inches off the ground and "Falling" out of the bed is not going to hurt. My only advise is when you set it up, put it in a corner.
I had no problems with the matress holding air. We pumped it up the first night and never had to refill it after 7 nights.
Customer Review: Looks great! Summary: 4 Stars
This just showed up, and I opened it up right away to make sure it was okay since we don't plan on needing it for another couple of months. I had a couple of surprises, but nothing major. First, the mattress and the sides are all connected - I was under the impression that I could take the mattress out and use it separately if I needed the space. Also, the mattress is toddler bed length and width, but a bit shorter in height - the toddler sheets fit, but a bit loosely. All in all though, looks nice. I'll let my son (2 years old) check it out for a night or two, and then probably put it away. Should be nice to have for his friends that spend the night too, since we've usually just done a pile of blankets on the floor for them in the past. The included air pump worked FAST, and was compact and easy to use. A happy bonus since we've been blowing up our regular air mattresses with a blow dryer when we need them. The mattress itself seems sturdy and relatively firm. I'll post an update after we have a chance to actually use it.
Customer Review: 1 of 2 Defective Summary: 2 Stars
Last week I ordered 2 of the toddler beds to take to Nana's house. I took them out the box and got them inflated. About an hour later I realized that one of them was losing air. I thought it was user error in that I didn't close the valve all the way. So I reinflated it. Sure enough it started to lose air again. So my husband reinflated it. Still the same thing. So my daughter ended up sleeping in the bed with me and my husband on the couch.
The other one worked just fine and I had no issues with it over our 3 night stay. In fact my son asked for his to be inflated in his bedroom when we got back home. I have requested a replacement from Amazon and will revise my review if necessary after the replacement comes in. I just can't give it the 5 stars that it probably deserves because I received a defective product and now I have to expend extra energy in shipping the defective one back off. One would hope that they tested these items at the factory before they are shipped out for the public to purchase.
