Baby Products Reviews of The Miracle Blanket Swaddler formerly known as the Amazing Miracle Blanket - Green w/ Beige TrimCustomer Review: I like this better than the ones with velcro. Also, don't forget Karp DVD! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this item and the Kiddopotamus & Co 100% Cotton Flannel SwaddleMeŽ Sage Gingham - Small at the same time. Initially, I thought the SwaddleMe looked easier to use and was clearly cheaper, but I find that I am using the Miracle Blanket almost exclusively. The two velcro tabs on the SwaddleMe are harder to manipulate than I thought they would be, especially with a struggling baby. In my opinion the Miracle Blanket is overall simpler to use. The Miracle Blanket accommodates all sizes, so it can adjust to baby's growth, and may be a better purchase/gift if you don't know how big the baby will be. Both of these items leave room for baby's legs to move, which is good. (Supposedly, restricting leg movement puts the baby at risk for abnormal hip development.) One user review mentions that her baby keeps kicking her legs out, but theoretically, it shouldn't matter because the swaddling is really about controlling the arms, not legs. Don't forget Dr. Karp's DVD The Happiest Baby on the Block - The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Baby Sleep Longer (DVD) because swaddling is only one of several steps to calming your baby. This is my second baby and so far, it's been a much better experience than with my firstborn. I didn't know about these techniques back then and my first baby's constant inconsolable crying made me absolutely miserable.
Customer Review: The very best baby product on the market! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a professional nanny/newborn specialist of 12 years and I must say that this blanket is AMAZING! I have used it with several families over the last 3 years and have found that it makes all the difference in the world in how much sleep a baby gets. Now when I work for a new family who has a newborn, the first thing I do is get one of these blankets, knowing that it will make life for them (and me) quite a lot easier.
A word of advice: many parents have told me that their babies did not like to be swaddled, so they stopped trying. Unless your baby is able to sleep for several hours without waking, they DO want to be swaddled. They may fuss while you are wrapping them up, and if they are more than a few weeks old it might feel odd to them at first, but they will sleep better and be more relaxed while sleeping because of it. Some parents also say that because the baby is able to get an arm out of a conventional swaddler that they clearly dont want to be in it. This is simply not true, the baby gets an arm out because the parents are not using the Miracle Blanket. Trust me, the baby wants it, you will want it and everyone will sleep a bit better because of it :)
Customer Review: By far the best baby product out there! Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the number one product that we have used with our twin boys. We started swaddling with regular blankets (which worked fine at first) -- but I could never get the swaddling tight enough, so my husband was forever having to "redo" my swaddling. This was fine until he had to go away on business. In a fit of panic, after a night of no sleep for anyone, I purchased the miracle blanket -- and that is exactly what it was -- a miracle. It was SO easy -- and the boys slept far better in it then the tradditional swaddle. We went from a 5-6 hour strech to a 7-8 hour strech the first night in the miracle blanket. We ended up swaddling until the boys were almost 6 months old. As another reviewer mentioned, they will let you know when they are ready to no longer be swaddled. We transitioned from swaddling to a sleep sack at 6 months, and it was easy and painless, and did not disrupt them sleeping through the night. I plan on buying one for every new parent I know! The gift of sleep is priceless!
Customer Review: Saved my sanity! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this blanket when my son was 10 months old. I was having an extremely difficult time getting him to sleep. He was borderline colic and just cried non stop for hours. I found that no matter how tight I tried to swaddle him using other things it just didn't work and he would manage to get himself out. The very first time I used the blanket my son slept 11 hours and I finally got control of our lives. I truly couldn't have made it without it. We used it until he was almost 5 months old and he then transitioned nicely out of it. He's a great sleeper now and I think that becuase I was able to get something that worked early on it help instill good sleeping habits for life. I liked it so much that I just bought one for my sister who is having a baby in a couple of months.
Customer Review: A true miracle Summary: 5 Stars
When my son was first born, he did not like this blanket at all and I believe it was because he was too small for it. I tried again around 6 weeks and he has slept like a champ, 4+ hours at a stretch, then moving on to 5.5 and 6.5 hours consistently. I started using it primarily because of the startle reflex constantly keeping him (and my husband and I) from getting some decent rest. It is very easy to use - I get him drowsy enough to fall asleep and then place the blanket in the crib, drop him in the pocket and wrap him tightly. If he's awake when I put it on, he will definitely get agitated because of his arms being restricted, however a little gentle bouncing and rocking sends him back to La-La Land in no time. Highly recommended for a great night's sleep for everyone.
