Customer Review: love these bottles!
Summary: 5 Stars

My now 10 week old son refused to breast feed. Once I got over the rejection, I started looking for a better bottle than the disposable liner playtex as I had no intention of spending all my money on those stupid liners! At the same time, he was refusing every pacifier I could find. I knew he wanted one because all he wanted to do to calm himself down was suck on a finger, but after hours of wrinkly fingers, I was desperate for a pacifier. I came across the soothies and he instantly took the pacifier. I was so excited. I bought the bottles and they are so perfect. I pre-measure the formula into the cup, pre-measure the water into the bottle and put the whole thing out on the counter. Its now a no-fail method for whomever is feeding the baby. All a person has to do is toss the formula from the cup into the bottle and shake. They are perfect for at home and on the go. They will leak if the lid isn't on correctly, but I have never had a problem with the nipple collapsing or with gunk building up.

Customer Review: not designed well for newborns
Summary: 2 Stars

Cons:

1) The nipple on the bottles are too big for newborns. My daughter's nose always looked as if it was being squished and she had difficulty breathing while feeding.

2) To get the last ounce or so, you have to pretty much put the baby lying down to get the milk in the nipple. Lots of formula wasted!!

3) My daughter always looked angry and frustrated while drinking and sucked in too much gas.

4) Beware of the nipple flow! 2 nipples in this kit are a size 2 (not appropriate for newborns).

Pros:

1) The soothie is great.

2) The bottles are wide and easy to clean.

3) Probably better for older infants.

My daughter is doing much better with the Playtex Advance bottles. I would recommend you try another alternative, especially if you want to reduce gas or refrain from feeding your child lying down for her to finish the last ounce.

Customer Review: Great for Breastfeeding Moms looking for a break
Summary: 4 Stars

I read this nipple was designed with the help of a lactation consultant. I had to try them. I nursed my first child for 8 months because she would not take a bottle. I tried EVERY bottle and nipple I could find. That was 3 years ago. I was nervous my second child would be the same way. He took a bootle ok but seemed to choke with a Gerber Ortho nipple. I wanted something close to being like a breast. Well, these bottles have been great. They are wide at the top. That is helpful for when I supplement and use powdered formula I do not make a mess. The scoop is big in the formula and a narrow bottle was a challenge. The bottles leak if you shake them without the top on. I am not sure why. The top fits on the bottom of the bottle so you do not misplace the top. They also come with a formula holder that fits on the bottle. This is great for traveling and not having to worry about a cooler, just finding warm water. I love these bottles!

Customer Review: Perfect for me and mine
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these bottles with my first son. I loved them myself. For those that feel the bottles are to big they make a narrow neck version of the bottle as well. Some might like that best for the newborn stage.I didn't have problems with leaking as long as you check to ensure you properly placed the nipple on the bottle. There is a specific way. Mine had a little bump to line up. I loved the cups that attach to the bottom great for snacks, etc... Also I bought the formula bags. I could put in the powder, seal like a ziplock and when ready to use simply tear off the funnel end and pour into the bottle of water. I will buy these again for my second child and I am pleased to learn they make TRAINING CUPS, PACIFER HOLDERS, SANITIZERS, WARMERS, and on and on....They can be found at the first years sight or on the learning curve site. They even come in Winnie the Pooh.

Customer Review: Absolutely wonderful

After my daughter was born, I was unable to get her to latch on. The hospital also gave her the pacifier in the nursery and she seemed to become overly attached to it. We started using the cheap nipples that the hospital gave us and she was spitting up very frequently, choking, and coughing alot. One day I decided to buy one of these bottles from walmart to try to decrease her "need" for the pacifier. Not only did she not need it as much but her feeding issues dropped dramatically! That night, I went back to walmart and bought this set for around $14.00. The only problem is the frequent need to wash them if you only have one set. I would recommend getting the set along with extra bottles and nipples. These made my nights much, much easier. My baby girl sleeps better without the gas issues.
