Customer Review: Soothie Bottles made life so much easier!
Summary: 4 Stars

My daughter is breastfed, but we introduced a bottle around 3 weeks to ensure that she would take one (with pumped milk and/or formula). We originally bought Avent bottles and had no problems until all of a sudden at 2-1/2 months she went bonkers! Refused to drink from the bottle. Granted we had be a bit lax on giving her bottles (not every day, but at least once per week). I tried a Dr. Browns and it was the same problem. And it didn't matter if it was breastmilk, forumula, warm, cold, room-temp, etc. She just screamed!

during this time, she had been using a Platex ortho pacifier, but had begun using the soothie pacifer I got from the Hospital. She didn't like the soothie pacifier at all to begin with...took several months for her to like it. Anyway, I randomly had a freebie Soothie bottle from motherhood maternity in the drawer that I thought I might as well try. she took it immediately!!

I have since bought several more in preparation for daycare, and she still takes them with no problems (she's 4 months now). I have not had any problem with leaks, and in fact she stays much much cleaner with this bottle than she did with Avent.

My only problem, is there is no disc to put underneath the nipple when transporting or mixing in the bottle. However, the stage 1 nipples are pretty slow, so as long as its kept upright it does okay. I have been using my old avent bottle with sealing discs as milk transport and pouring into the Soothie to feed.

Customer Review: BETTER THAN AVENT!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I registered for items for my baby, I, like the rest of the country, was 'sucked in' to the Avent bottles. They overtook the shelves of Babies R Us and everything I had read had recommended these bottles. I received many of these bottles and sippee cups at the shower. Once my son was born, the nipples of the Avent bottles were way too hard, especially since I was also breastfeeding. My son loved his soothie pacifier and when I saw the Soothie bottles at the store, I decided to give them a try. WE LOVE THE SOOTHIE BOTTLES! First of all, there are only two stages for the nipples, 1 and 2 (Avent has 4 and depending on your baby, you may need to buy nipples over and over again). Secondly, the nipples are a lot softer and he really enjoys this. The soft nipples helps him to seal around it better and not suck in air through the sides of his mouth. Also, there is a venting system similar to that of Avent. I am completely impressed with these bottles and recommend them 10 to 1 over Avent. The price alone is worth a try! Although these bottles are not interchangable with sippee cups, they are a lot less expensive and Avent's sippee cups aren't necessarily the nicest looking or appealing to a child. So go ahead! Give them a try! You'll love them!

Customer Review: Finally a bottle I can work with!
Summary: 4 Stars

After trying out the Playtex Nursers, Playtex Vent Air, Avent and Soothie, Soothie definately comes out on top.

While the Playtex bottles were great because they eliminated the bubbles in the formula while drinking, it was a bit of a pain to measure formula before putting it in the bottle with the liners and our son was not a fan of the nipples for the Vent Air.

Avent nipples were too hard and while he'd still drink from the nipple, it took a lot of coaxing for him to do so. Not to mention that Avent is quite an investment in a baby bottle system.

We tried the Soothie pacifier when my son would spit out the Mams and other similar shaped pacifiers. With the Soothie, he just sucked it right in and loves it! It just makes sense. If he loved the pacifier so much we should have no problem with the bottles. We love these bottles because they work for our son and the price is fantastic compared to the Playtex Nursers, Vent Air and Avent.

I gave it 4 stars because the bottles are quite large in circumference and you have to be sure when there is only a little formula in the bottle that the nipple is completely full or baby will be sucking on air.

Customer Review: Soothie set
Summary: 4 Stars

I nurse my daughter, but she supplements with formula and takes a pacifier too. The lactation consultant suggested the Soothie products to improve my daughter's latch because of the long round nipple shape that's more natural for nursing babies. It's too soon to see if it made a difference, but my daughter LOVES the soothie bottles and paci's now! It took weeks before she'd take a Mam and over a week before she'd successfully drink from a Gerber bottle, but she took to Soothies instantly and in 5 mins or less prefered them to the products she'd been using for months! They're so much easier for her to suck and hold in her mouth. The price is great too, about 1/2 the price of the same set with Avent products.

My 2 complaints are: 1) the leaking bottles and 2) the pacifier looks weird and doesn't attach to a pacifier keeper. The leaking can be fixed by getting the part where the rim of the bottle meets the nipple wet to create a full seal. Also, it helps to "swirl" the formula to mix instead of "shaking" it... it takes a bit longer, but you end up with less mess and less bubbles.

Customer Review: WAY better than Avent
Summary: 5 Stars

As a first time mom, I had always heard that Avent was THE best and most babies I knew used them or the 6 piece Dr. Brown's contraption that I'm sure you'd never find me washing all the time. Well, when my son was born he had problems with breastfeeding and we switched to bottles at about 2 weeks. He did okay with Avent, but he had a lot of gas and spitting-up. However, we could always calm him down with his Soothie pacifier. We saw these bottles in the store, which by the way unlike Avent you can get these anywhere, and due to the great price decided to buy them. WOW what a difference. No more screaming for 30 minutes after he eats and he actually started falling asleep at the end of his bottle at night. He just seems happier with these. The Avent were passed along to my sister in law and we bought more Soothies. Word to the wise, just buy 1 pack of a couple of different kinds of bottles and see what works for you baby. No matter what the studies "say" every baby is different and they'll let you know within a day which bottles they like, but the Soothies are AWESOME!
