Baby Products Reviews of The First Years Night and Day Bottle Warmer SystemCustomer Review: If I knew then what I know now! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this product for the arrival of my second child. I bottle fed my first child as well. This product is a timesaver/lifesaver! I only wish I had it 4 years ago with my first child. The key is to read the directions carefully before using this product. If you use more than the recommended measurement of water for the warmer you will scald the bottle and formula and it won't cool down easily either. As long as you read the instructions and follow them, this product is a wonder and joy to use. The cooler is especially nice because it cuts down on the nighttime feeding process, but you must take special care not to chill bottles longer than the recommended 8 hrs. You'll love the convenience and peace of mind! If I only knew then what I know now... :)
Customer Review: A huge help! Summary: 5 Stars
This bottle cooler/warmer has been such a huge help since we brought it home and plugged it in! Well worth the reasonable price it sells for... I take a prepared bottle from the cooler, pour in the pre-measured water cup... pop a bottle into the steamer basket... push the button, and walk away... I typically change the baby while the bottle warms, and it's ready for him as soon as he's done getting a fresh diaper. It's nice, and saves time, and when you're one hand-handling the whole event, with a baby in one arm, it's nice that you can prep a bottle with just one other hand... I love it.. I am sooooo glad we bought it! I highly recommend this helpful item! It's a must have for those night-time feedings... and equally as helpful during the day as well!
Customer Review: Not the best option Summary: 2 Stars
Though this warmer generally works okay, I've found that I'd much rather just warm a bottle the old-fashioned way -- by immersing it in a glass of hot water. Dipping & spinning the bottle in hot water heats it much faster, and you know exactly how warm it's getting. With the steam heater, it's hard to get the exact right amount of water in there to heat a certain-sized bottle correctly. I ended up installing an Instant Hot water faucet (search ...for "instant hot"), and while you have to be careful not to curdle the milk with too hot--too soon, even slowly heating the milk this way takes only 1-2 minutes for 4 oz. That 3-4 minute difference (manufacturer claims 5 mins to warm with this warmer) is pretty important when you're holding a hungry baby.
Customer Review: Pretty good product, if you keep it clean Summary: 4 Stars
This cooler/warmer combination is a definite time saver. It keeps the two bottles "cool enough" for overnight feedings so we don't have to go downstairs to the fridge. And depending on which bottles you use, you don't necessarily have to only use the ice pack it came with. Sometimes we just use one of those "blue ice" packs that we always keep in our freezer.
The warmer works great, BUT you gotta keep it clean. No matter how careful we are with the bottles, some milk always spills into the warming chamber. After a while, the spilled milk burns in the chamber and creates a layer of "gunk". When this happens, the warmer does not work as well. So periodically clean out the warming chamber (and baskets) and you're good to go.
Customer Review: WASTE OF MONEY Summary: 2 Stars
In my opinion, bottle warmers are a waste of money. I used a couple of different ones and they are all the same (THEY DON'T WORK ALL THE TIME). When you have a screaming baby that is waiting to be fed, you don't have the time to play around. I know alot you may not agree, but I pop the bottle in the microwave for 20 seconds or so (depending on how many ounces) and shake up the bottle real good when it is done in case of those hot spots you hear about and we are good to go (both mommy and baby are happy in record timing). I was given this same advice from other conditioned moms and was skeptical in the beginning, but they were all right! It just takes a little common sense when you are heating up a babies bottle in the microwave.
