The extension to the first years gate is very sturdy and securely on the gate. I have purchased two extensions for my gate for the bottom of the stairs and it is securely fastened, even when a 3 years old is trying to wiggle it with all their might (that is saying a lot!). The only downside to these extensions is that it isn't long enough. I had to purchase two extensions for it to fit the rails of the stairs, but overeall, I'm pretty content with it.Customer Review: The "Best Gate There Is" is even better with Extensions!!

I have probably bought all the gates that are on the market over the past 20 years for pets and/or children (and now grandchildren)and the Hands Free Gate is by far the best gate out there. This is the first time I have had to buy the extensions and they are great!! I was afraid I would have to settle for an inferior gate till I found out about these extensions! They are a snap to put in. Very sturdy and you can't even tell there is an extension added.Customer Review: Very good safety gate

The gate is well made and fits well in my doorway. It is easy to install and adjust. Be sure to measure your doorway and get the extension if needed as you want to install it at the minimum measurement and not the maximum. The tension and sturdiness of the gate is stronger if you install the gate and extension to fit as close as possible to your doorway width, which will minimize the distance the screws need to extend and reach the walls.Customer Review: Great addition for my triplets gate!

We bought two of these extensions for the Hands Free Gate that we use for our triplets that just turned a year old. This gate including extensions are a lifesaver! You can read my review on the gate as well, lol. The extensions are very easy to add and very sturday. Adding them does not make the gate weaker by extending it out like some gates do. I loved the gate. So when I moved to my new house and found that the doorways were wider than the gate, I needed the extension. It was well worth it. My daughter is always pulling on it and hanging on it, and it still stays very sturdy within the doorway. I am also happy that we got to re-use the hands free gate because I would have hated to fasten a gate right onto the wall and make holes in my wall. This gate was a great purchase.
