This is a good supplement to the Munchkin Deluxe Dishwasher Basket, Assorted or any other hard plastic dishwasher basket - but will not replace it. This is good for odd shaped items that need to stay in a certain position when being run in the dishwasher, like baby bottle caps. If I put caps into the Munchkin, they would flip over and collect water during the wash. If I didn't put the caps into anything and ran them through the dishwasher, they would either flip over or end up at the bottom of the dishwasher. Both outcomes are undesirable for anh OCD clean freak like me. This thing comes in handy to make sure these items stay in their proper and optimal cleaning position. Does the job, and doesn't cost too much.Customer Review: Great for dishwashers

I have had my mesh baskets for almost a year. I've no trouble with rusting. They work great for straws. They are stretching and they allow the items to clean well (although no food pieces). The only problem I had was it took a few months of using before I didn't struggle to get it open. But now it's not problem. I'm not sure if I got stronger or if it loosened up a bit, but it still closes snuggly. This is SO much better for straws than those little holders beside the larger baskets. And it hardly takes up any dishwasher space. It's a wonderful find!! I would recommend to anyone needing to wash straws especially.Customer Review: BUY THESE

These are so great, I came back and bought two more sets! I put the following items in them: take n toss spoons, straw cup tubes, straw cup lids, baby bottle nipples, baby bottles, pacifiers, and pump parts. I have a toddler and a newborn, so we do a lot of dishes. It's nice to know when I open the dishwasher that there won't be small items down in the bottom of my dishwasher, or turned upside down and filled with water. These are our dishwasher workhorses, and I would give them 6 stars if I could! My only complaint is that I wish the set contained 1 large and 2 small baskets. It's true that this basket won't let any crumbs or bits of solid food through, so they end up trapped in the basket with whatever you're washing. But otherwise these work great. Mine don't have any metal parts, they're all plastic and mesh. Bought these after the kid graduated from bottles to sippy cups; two of these probably wouldn't be big enough for all bottle parts, assuming you go through 4-6 bottles a day and run the dishwasher once a day. We use them for sippy cup parts, the tops of teeny plastic containers, plastic spoons, wine-bottle stoppers, all kinds of stuff.Customer Review: The Hinge Rusts

Well, I have had this set for a several months. I generally use them every night in the dishwasher, but I'll be throwing them out soon. There is a metal rod in the hinge that is rusting on the large mesh rack. The small one has the same rod but for whatever reason, it is doing fine.
Also, these lie flat in the dishwasher, taking up much room. I prefer the Munchkin brand of dishwasher basket. It is tall, and allows better use of space. It also holds a lot more, and has no metal pieces whatsoever.
