Baby Products Reviews of The First Years Close and Secure Sleeper, Colors May VaryCustomer Review: Absolutely perfect for us Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this little sleeper. We'd been using the bassinet in the bedroom and it just wasn't working for us. With both our sons (6 years apart) there was one point or another that I wanted to chuck the bassinet out the window. they just hated it. AMA (against mom's advice) I bought this little sleeper for the middle of our king-sized bed. It was absolutely perfect. It actually helped to form good habits in my son because after feeding him, I'd lay him right back down (in the middle of the night). So, when we finally did move him to his crib at 4 months, he was used to falling back to sleep on his own. With him so close, we'd rub his belly if he cried rather than picking him up. It was better for all of us. I never used the light, we slept with an indirect bathroom light on so we could see him. I'm not sure if it would've worked for us in a smaller bed but in a king size it was absolutely perfect.
Customer Review: This is PERFECT! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this when our baby was 1 1/2 weeks old when we realized she was not going to be going in her crib anytime soon. We only have a Queen bed, so it is a little crowded with her between us, but we still sleep alot sounder than we would if she was not in anything - it is better than taking any chances of rolling on her or her rolling over and suffocating. Baby is 3 months old now and she still uses this, but has almost grown out of it. We also use a receiving blanket on it as a sheet and can easily change it out. The light is perfect for nighttime feedings when you only want a bit of light. I don't know what we would do with out it. She also naps in it during the day and can be close by, on the couch. We have started carrying her in it and placing the whole thing in her crib after she falls asleep in hopes it will make the transition easier - working so far. I HIGHLY recommend this product!
Customer Review: The foot stopper should be removable! Summary: 4 Stars
Like other customers, I found this product to be very useful. My son has been sleeping in it since the day he arrived home from the hospital. He felt really comfortable sleeping in it, which made it so nice when we travelled because he felt right at home sleeping in this co-sleeper. This product is also just the right size for our king-size bed (it will feel really cramped in a queen-size bed). It is definitely a must for breastfeeding moms, because it feels really nice to have the baby in bed without worrying about rolling over him. I give it a four because I am dissappointed that the foot stopper is not removable. After only 8 weeks, my son has outgrown the bed. I ended up doing a little TLC and took the inner plastic frame from the foot stopper so that he can continue sleeping in it, but I truly wish that the manufacturer makes a removable foot stopper for bigger/longer babies.
Customer Review: Great peace of mind Summary: 5 Stars
This wasn't around when I was a new Mom but boy was it a big help when my Grandson was little! In those first weeks when his Mom and Dad were exhausted from getting up and down all night this gave them such peace of mind to bring him to bed with them. It was so nice to just be able to reach over and jiggle him back to sleep instead of getting up AGAIN! And it helped Mom get a nap when he did during the day. It was so easy to take along for visits and for moving him around to wherever we wanted to have him close by. A friend had a c-section and it worked so well for her during the day to have the baby right there in bed so she didn't have to be lifting so often. I recently purchased another one for a shower gift.
I may be a protective Grandma but, in my opinion, it's one of those 'must have' safety items if you want to put your baby in bed with you.
Customer Review: A Life Saver! Summary: 5 Stars
We highly recommend this product! We didn't do a family bed, but instead used the sleeper in his crib. The crib seemed so huge for him at first, so we just put the sleeper inside the crib and put our baby in it and it worked wonders! It was great because it prevented him from rolling over, which gave us peace of mind. And it also gave him the safe, secure feeling that he needed to sleep through the night. He snuggled right up against the side of the sleeper and slept for hours!
Our baby grew out of it at about 3 months of age, but by that point, he was "mature" enough to sleep in his crib and didn't need it anymore. It would be great if the bottom part was detachable. We probably would have used it a little longer, but it served its purpose and we definitely got our money's worth. Highly recommended as a transition from bassinet to crib.
