Baby Products Reviews of The First Years Breastflow Starter Set

Customer Review: Favorite bottle for breasfteeding
Summary: 5 Stars

I switched to this bottle after failed attempts to use the Evenflo glass bottles. Even the slow-flow nipples were too fast for my 1 week old. This bottle was great for switching back and forth from breast, since I was unable to feed from the left nipple for quite a while. My son didn't seem to mind! Easy to clean, and easy to hold. As for the starter kit, it's odd that this is the only time you can get the flat lids that fit the bottle (for freezing or refrigerating without the nipple on). I called the company to try and order those lids separately, but they do NOT! Weird. Anyway, nice to have at least a couple in this set to use on bottles I already had. The bottle brush is an inconsequential addition. Great gift idea for a nursing mother.

Customer Review: Saved my breasts!
Summary: 5 Stars

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these. I love breastfeeding, but I wanted to give Grandparents a chance to feed baby when they came to visit, cause let's be honest, there would have been little time left for holding. Unfortunately, once Grandparents left and baby was back to the breast I started getting lumps, and then mastitis. I did my research and decided they must have been caused by a latch issue due to baby using bottles. So before I went back to work I decided to purchase these. I haven't had lumps since! I KNOW I have this product to thank. Baby still latches really well after taking a bottle, no more tight pinches or uncomfortable lumps!

A lot of low star reviews talk about the milk spilling out. I didn't have ANY problems with that.

Customer Review: Ruined latch, baby swallowed air,
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this to use with breastmilk for my baby at daycare. I've been extremely disappointed with it. The bottles ruined my baby's latch although I didn't realize the cause until I switched to a different bottle. He stopped opening his mouth wide to latch onto my breast do to the tiny tip on the bottle nipple.

The outer nipple collapses into a triangle shape.

My baby can't empty all the milk from the outer nipple once there is no milk left in the bottle. He swallowed A LOT of air because the inner nipple blocked milk from getting to the tip from inside the outer nipple.

It was miserable to clean so many nipples too. Got very tiring. The bottles discolored with an orange hue as soon as I boiled them.

Customer Review: Best bottle so far
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently found this bottle in a magazine saying it was good for breastfed babies to go back and forth. I could not find one in my area so I bought it from fabulous AMAZON.COM . My 2 month old has no trouble switching back and forth and we've used it a few times like when I am not available to breastfeed. The flow is perfect. Other bottles have nipples that gush milk no matter how slow they say the flow is. But this one takes the same amount of time to finish as he does on the breast and I think thats great. One negative is that the nipples do collapse sometimes and milk stays trapped inside. But those are issues I think well worth it. I would recommend to anyone looking for a breast to bottle-bottle.

Customer Review: Really wanted this to work!
Summary: 2 Stars

Initially this product was great, our daughter latched on just as if she were breastfeeding and the milk flow seemed just right. Then, she got a little older (6 weeks) and the rhythm has been off since then. The double nipple system is supposed to allow the baby to control the flow, what results however is that the outer nipple fills with milk and then collapses while the baby continues to suckle-and that makes (our) baby MAD. Let's face it, breastfed babies generally prefer the breast-offering a bottle is going to be difficult-if you are like me you have scoured the universe trying to find something that will help this transition for both your baby. For us, this bottle was not the answer.
