Baby Products Reviews of The First Years Breastflow Starter Set

Customer Review: Worked great for me
Summary: 5 Stars

This was the last set of many bottles I tried to get my 3 month old, breastfeeding daughter to take a bottle (for the occasions when I have to leave her). She seemed to go straight to this, definitely faster than any other bottle. After about a week of one feeding a day with this bottle she's a pro and seems to like it just fine. The silicone outer nipple is much much softer than any other silicone nipples.
I haven't used it yet, but the kit comes with a handy little formula holder and 4 screw lids to fit the bottle without a nipple and the bottle brush is bent to fit the bottles perfectly!.
My only complaints: the multiple parts are just more for me to clean, and the nipples seem to fill on their own (without the compression part) and are a little hard to get out of the nipple chamber and back into the bottle - makes it a little wasteful (but only a little)

Customer Review: Decent
Summary: 4 Stars

I had high hopes for these bottles. They aren't the perfect bottle that I was hoping for, but they do a good job. We had been using the Soothie bottles, until my son decided he didn't like those anymore. So, when he was about 4 months old, I bought these. He latched on to these nipples right away, whereas it took him several days to learn to drink from the Soothies. However, he is older now, so that probably automatically decreased the learning curve.

I haven't had any leakage issues, and the double nipple really isn't that big of a deal to clean. The outer nipple does collapse on him, but he doesn't seem to care. It does also seem like the milk flows too quickly, so I have to pull it out to give him a breather so that he doesn't choke.

All in all, a good bottle system that I would buy again.

Customer Review: Breastfeeding Tutor
Summary: 5 Stars

I really wanted to breastfeed but my baby just wouldn't do it (my shape was not ideal). My midwife convinced me that if we kept trying, we would eventually figure it out. After reading about a million product reviews desperately trying to find a miracle product to teach my baby to breastfeed, I switched to the Breastflow slow flow bottles & also used the Adiri while still offering the breast at most feedigs (with no success). At 7 weeks my baby just suddenly latched & I was able to put the bottles away. It's impossible to tell how influential these bottles were in meeting this goal, but I know they allowed us to encourage proper breastfeeding form & were closer to the real thing so I give them a lot of credit. I am a big fan of these bottles & will recommend them to anyone trying to resolve breastfeeding issues.

Customer Review: These Bottles Leaks!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this First Year Starter Set for my new born boy who was two weeks ago. We used this set of bottle, but all the bottles leak!!! My son refused to suck these bottles as the double nipples system is too difficult for him. He needs to spend so much energy to suck the nipples in order to get the milk, but he is too young for doing all these work! I tried to remove the nipples inner nipple and just used the outer nipple when I fed my son, but the bottle still does not work well. When I removed the inner nipple, the air went into the bottle easily and it causes leak! I assumed the air went into the bottle because I removed the inner nipple, but there is no way for a two-week old baby to suck milk from this double nipple system! I will not recommend this product to new parents.

Customer Review: without the inner nipple
Summary: 4 Stars

I tried using these with the inner nipple in place and it seemed as though my daughter wound up swallowing lots of air ( although I could be wrong here ). Also when using the inner nipple, she would suck and lose lots of milk out the sides of her mouth, up to 1/2 ounce per feeding of wasted breast milk (boo). I love the shape of this nipple though, so I decided to try it without the inner nipple and see what transpired. It looks like its working! the nipple collapses a bit if its screwed on too tight so you have to find the happy medium between too tight and too loose. She isn't fussing like crazy from swallowing too much air, she isnt hungry after the feeding from losing too much milk, and the shape of the nipple is keeping her interested in the breast AND bottle!
