Baby Products Reviews of The First Years Breastflow Starter KitCustomer Review: LOVE these bottles--lifesaving! Summary: 5 Stars
With my first child I had quite a bit of problems breastfeeding, so I often pumped into a bottle and fed him that way and tried to get him on the breast as much as possible in between. In the hospital I got one of those cute lil diaper bags full of formula and other goodies-and inside of it was one of these bottles. It was the ONLY bottle I could use with my first sone for about the first 2 months. It was so easy to switch between bottle and breast and really does similate the breast quite a bit. I am now about 8 months pregnant with my second child and purchased this set--we just got it yesterday and it is great! The lil snack/formula storage cup fits on the bottom of any of the bottles, so it is great for on the go--you can just measure the formula ahead of time, but some warm water in the bottle and go--it also comes with the bottle brush which is nice obviously because then you dont have to purchase a separate one. I love these bottles and even though I have about 20 different kinds from baby showers or baby gifts, these are the only ones I use!
Customer Review: Breastflow bottle OMG Summary: 4 Stars
I normally do not write reviews. But Oh My Gosh! This product is awesome! I have a 5 1/2 month old little boy who liked mommy and only mommmy...refusing to eat unless I nursed him. My girls were no problem. They took Avent bottles. My son on the other hand would go up to 12 hours without drinking milk on the days I was at work. I bought about 7 different bottles before finding out about this one online. Although I could not find it in the store and was hesitant to purchase it online, I figured...well...I bought all the other bottles, why not this one. He has taken it since day one and it has been a week. He has not had any trouble going back and forth between bottle and nursing. I give it almost a perfect rating because sometimes the lids do not stay closed on top completely, although they snap on the bottom fine. But, that is not important to me as long as he is drinking from the bottle now, as the package I bought came with screw on lids. So, I can use this to make sure no milk spills if I have to. Yea! I found a bottle...finally.
Customer Review: Fabulous Product!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This bottle was a lifesaver for me!!! I went back to work when my son was 12 weeks old, and he refused any and all bottles. We tried everything, medicine droppers, cup feedings, anything we could think of to get him to eat. He would only eat a few ounces a day while I was gone, and that only with a significant struggle. A local lactation consultant recommended the Breastflow bottles, so I gave them a try. The first day started off about the same, with a struggle, but then all of a sudden he latched on and downed the whole bottle. The next two bottles that day were much easier. By the second day, he was taking these bottles just as easily as if he was nursing. He switches back and forth from these bottles and nursing without a problem.
We have had the issue of milk getting trapped between the two nipples, but it is not hard to get it to drop back down into the bottle, just by squeezing the outer nipple.
I would recommend this product to anyone whose baby is experiencing some nipple confusion.
Customer Review: Finally a bottle she will take! Summary: 5 Stars
Like many of the other reviewers, I have an exclusively breastfed (and extremely stubborn) baby. My daughter has been breastfed only for her first 3 months. I started back to work two weeks ago, and she was not latching on to any of the bottles (standard Evenflo nipples, Playtex, Elan, Avent, Soothie, Medela orthodontic nipples, etc). We had tried these others even before I went back to work, but she would just swallow what dribbled into her mouth without latching on. I was going in during lunch to feed her because she wouldn't take more than an ounce. Finally I saw the reviews for this bottle and decided to try it. She took an ounce or two in the first two feedings, and in the third feeding after 45 minutes she finally decided to actually latch on to the nipple. Once she did, she drank 3 ounces in 5 minutes. I'm waiting to see how things go the rest of the week, but I will most likely be buying more of these soon. Thank you for such a great product!
Customer Review: Made no difference, but still a great bottle Summary: 4 Stars
My exclusively breastfed daughter refuses to take bottles; I thought that this bottle might work. So far it has made no difference. My daughter is 7 months old and refuses to latch onto any bottle nipple. She wants to be nursed and no bottle has changed her mind. But I think this bottle is a great idea, I had no problems with it leaking, the silicone is very soft just like the breast, and easy to clean. I would recommend this bottle to someone that wanted to make sure their child would nurse and take a bottle. It definitely seems to have more similarities to breastfeeding than your standard bottle, once you get milk into the second nipple it is almost like there is a "let down". I know this because I tried it out myself, since my stubborn and strong-willed daughter wanted nothing to do with it. But I also have not been extremely persistent. Nonetheless, I think this is a great product.
