Customer Review: Needs improvements
Summary: 3 Stars

This tub definitely has it's advantages and disadvantages. The sling feature for a newborn is great. It's soft and supportive for your newborn and makes it easy to give your baby a sponge bath while you're waiting for the umbilical stump to fall off. That's pretty much all I like about it. Now let me tell you about what I don't like...

1. It fits on any KITCHEN sink, but if you want to give your baby a bath in the bathroom, you're going to find yourself bending over the tub just as you would if you gave your baby a bath in the big tub. I have the oval shaped bathroom sinks and there's no way to sit this tub on the sink surface with any stability because one of the edges will always slip into the sink. If they had made the bottom flat despite the curvature of the top, this problem would have been avoided.

2. Like other reviewers have mentioned, once your baby is big enough for the reclined side but not yet big enough for the upright side, your baby will slip down over the hump that is supposed to hold him in place. Not only does this look uncomfortable, but it makes it hard to keep your baby's face from sliding in the water once they're big enough to roll and kick but not big enough to sit up.

3. Washing your baby's privates is a nightmare. I have to get my son to stand in the tub while holding one arm so I can wash his privates with my other hand. This wouldn't be so bad in the big people tub where the surface is flat, but the hump in this tub gets in the way where he can't stand with as much stability so he's constantly slipping. They didn't put the non-slip surface on the entire base of the tub, just on one side of the base. And it would have to be the narrower side where there isn't room for both of his feet. They could have solved my complaint #2 and #3 if they had just put the nonslip surface on the whole base.

Maybe complaint #2 will be better once he's big enough to sit up, but complaint #1 and #3 are always going to be issues. I recommend this tub for infants and possibly for toddlers, but not for babies between the two stages. I am planning on purchasing a bath sling to use until he's big enough for the upright side of this tub.

Customer Review: Fantastic tub until they start to kick
Summary: 4 Stars

Started using this tub when my son was a week old. Found the sling to be easy to use and very safe. He stayed put in the sling (of course I didn't let him out of arms reach for safety) and I felt very comfortable giving him a bath. And just as important - he felt safe and got to like his bathtime. There's enough room on either side of the sling to dip a washcloth and gently pour some water over his tummy - which felt nice for him. Tub is easy to empty and clean. The sling is connected with 4 clips = 2 on either end. Very easy to remove and wash the sling in the washing machine.

When he got big enough, I removed the sling and put him in the main toddler tub. He was about 3 1/2 months old - over 14 lbs and not able to sit up on his own w/o support. But the sling was just too small for him. At first the toddler tub worked and I just had to hold him upright. But now at just over 4 months he's found that kicking in the bath is fun. As soon as he lifts his leg to kick, his butt slides over the little ridge designed to keep him sitting upright. At that point the ridge is digging into his back and his head is almost in the water. I can easily push him back upright again, but he'll slide down within seconds as he wiggles his legs.

So - a great tub but certainly won't take me through the toddler period as I'd hoped. I saw a cute picture from another user of a baby boy sitting upright (clearly w/o support) in the tub and not leaning against the padded back of the tub. That looks like it would work - as long as baby doesn't try to lean back and then wiggle. Would still buy it again even knowing that it only took me through the first 3 months. And for now I'll have to sit with him in the big tub until he can sit on his own without support.

Customer Review: Only infant tub I've ever used, but am very satisfied with this one
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't have anything to compare this with as this is my first infant tub, but so far so good. I have been using it for nine months now and am very satisfied. Although I did buy it at Walmart instead of Amazon for a few bucks less. I really liked the sling, but I like the tub even more now that my son can sit up and enjoy the bath. The one and only thing I would change is adding some padding to the "infant/toddler" side of the tub. There is padding under the butt, but the baby's back sits right up against the plastic. If your little one is anything like mine, he will twist and turn, which actually has left a bruise on his lower back. Now I just put a large, soft washcloth and drape it behind him while in use. This has completely solved that problem. I only mention it so others can try it if needed, it really isn't such a pain that it would deter me from buying again.

The tub is great because it works with your growing child. The sling (for newborns) allows you to bath your little one without putting him in too much water and worrying about him wiggling in. It is also good because if he is hesitant about being in water, it's a good transition. My son is 9 months old and very big for his age, but still fits in this tub and absolutely loves it. I have a hard time getting him to get out. If he sees it, even if its not bath time, he cries to get in and play.

Customer Review: I hate to give up this tub!
Summary: 5 Stars

We've had great luck with this tub. Many of the negative reviews seen to focus on the hump in the middle, and it must depend on the relative size and muscle development of the child. Our son has fit just perfectly. The only problem we had with the sling, was our son did seem suspended too high--but we just added more water, so that the tub was full to the brim. He was then high enough up that his back didn't rest on the hump and he stayed warm in the water.

It is a big tub, so we have used it in the bathtub ever since his second bath on the kitchen counter when he peed on our toaster oven. Which is sort of irrelevant to the tub, but highlights the dangers (an hilarity) of a bath in the kitchen.

Once he got bigger, he fit just fine in both sides of the tub. Sadly, at 10 months he had gotten too big to wash easily and he can stand up, which is awkard with the shape of the tub. The first time we bathed him without the tub he CRIED! But I bribed him with his favorite toy and now all is well.

Customer Review: One year and still going strong!

I am so happy that I listened to reviews over a year ago! My daughter is 12 months old and I am still using the tub! The sling feature was unbelievably awesome when she was a newborn. I had a c-section so it was hard for me to get around and I was almost afraid to handle my daughter, especially when bathing. The sling made it so easy. She was nice and secure which made her very easy to handle. When she got bigger and took off the sling things were still easy. The contouring of the tub held her up to where she needed to be without slipping. As she started to sit up the seat kept her secure and she really loved bathing at this point so it was still an easy task to wash her. Now she is standing and once again, not problems in this tub. We have used the flip side with her sitting, but we like the idea of keeping the water around her in the winter so we may use the seat feature more in the summer when it's warmer. This is truly a convertible bath tub that will last you for a long time. This is the best tub out there!
