Baby Products Reviews of The First Year's Infant To Toddler Tub with Sling, Blue

Customer Review: Rub a dub dub, baby LOVES this little tub!
Summary: 4 Stars

We registered for this tub after reading reviews about several others, some much more pricey. This is THE tub for us. I love the cradle/sling feature for newborns! It's made of a soft, nylon-type mesh, which allows water to pass through while supporting a slippery newborn.

There is a convenient built in pocket at the rear of the tub in which to store soaps, washclothes or rubber duckies. I like the drain feature, although I rarely wait for it to drain. I usually just dump it over after my daughter is out because time's a commodity with a screaming newborn. I honestly can't comment on the plug changing colors to make sure the water isn't too hot because hubby and I use our hands and own judgement to determine that. I don't think there is a device out there I would trust more than my own skin to determine if the temp is safe enough, though.

The reason I gave this product 4 stars is because of the netting being a little slippery. Baby tends to slide down after a while. But that's hardly a problem, since you shouldn't turn your back EVER on a baby in water anyway. I highly recommend this to anyone, and you can't beat the price!

Customer Review: Good tub with a few minor issues
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought the basic version of this tub a few years ago when my daughter was a baby and now am using it for my son. It works well and the foam on the back keeps him from sliding around. There are a few issues 1) It has a drain plug in the bottom, but not all the water will drain out of it using the plug, so be prepared to flip it over to empty it. 2) This tub is really only good as an infant tub. By the time my daughter was ready to use the toddler side, she could brace her feet against the infant side and "bounce". This meant that she would slip over the hump in the middle, so I just moved her to the big tub. 3) I had to bathe my babies with this tub in the big tub. This tub does fit well in a double sink (the only place I have one is in the kitchen and it is too drafty to bathe my kids there). But when I put the tub in the bathtub and fill it up with water, it was too heavy for me to get out again, expecially in the first 6 weeks when I wasn't supposed to be lifting. This meant I got the joy of trying to get a slippery infant out of the big tub.

All in all though, it's a good tub and I have no plans to buy a differnt one.

Customer Review: The 3rd tub we bought and this one did the job!
Summary: 5 Stars

This was the third tub we bought for our little guy and it finally met all of our needs. We originally had a bath sling which was like a seat that you had to place in the regular tub. The downfall is that you had to fill your regular tub with 3-4 inches of water before the water would touch baby's skin. The sling that comes with this tub allows you to only have to fill the baby tub with a few inches of water and waste much less!

The foamy green area that the older baby reclines on works great -- grips him so he is less likely to slip, and it is a soft cushioner from the hard plastic. The second tub we bought was an inflatable tub and this was my number one compaint. It was an import from Australia and plenty soft, but baby would continually slip until his head was in the water.

Another great plus is that there are notches on the underside of the tub so it can set securley over your kitchen sink. A BIG plus to avoid hurting your back when bending over to wash baby. It's also nice that the drain plug doubles up as a water temperature tester. An easy visual check to make sure water isn't too hot. We love it.

Customer Review: I'm starting to think our parents were right...
Summary: 2 Stars

...sink baths are the only way to go with babies. I originally registered for that 4 in 1 system, read the TERRIBLE reviews it got, then went back and took it off my registry. Bought this one myself. It doesn't fit my double sink so the only choice I had was to use it in the actual tub. When my dgtr was small enough to use the sling, it was great. She's 7 mo now and sitting up, but cant use the straight side because she topples over. She wont sit still for the slanted side cuz she thinks she's a big girl and wants to see everything. I cant see using this thing for more than another two or three months MAX because my dgtr's a big girl 90th % height and weight; her little knees already knock the sides and she can't straighten her legs. I have to force her to lay back and lift her legs straight up in the air now to clean her little chub rolls. The drain plug is flush against the bottom of the tub so I have to lean this with the baby in it to empty it, or let her sit in stagnant water constantly. I'm just glad this tub didn't turn her away from loving her Splashy Splashy time. This tub gets 1 star for its price and 1 star for the sling.

Customer Review: Works great!
Summary: 4 Stars

Purchased this because a friend had it and because it had received great reviews on Amazon (over the other bathtubs that I was considering). Liked the sling and my baby finally outgrew it this week at 11.5 weeks. So, now she's sitting in the reclined seat... works like a charm as I don't even have to hold her up. The reclined seat worked even better than the sling (as she would usually slowly slide down the sling and I often had to re-adjust her). The drain also drains pretty fast. My husband even drilled a hole into the top of the tub so that we could hang it in our garage to drip dry (and for storage, of course).

Works like it should except for one thing. The product description stated that the drain would indicate if the water was too hot for the baby. As stated on Amazon: "Drain plug alerts parents if water is too hot".

However, no where on the packaging did it state this and the plug does not change color. Being a first time parent... this would have been helpful... but in the end, it doesn't really matter as I discovered my baby prefers the water to be on the hotter side. Strange but true!
