Baby Products Reviews of The First Year's Infant To Toddler Tub with Sling, Blue

Customer Review: Better than all the other tubs out there
Summary: 5 Stars

I researched all the Babies R Us tub choices before getting this one. I liked this one initially for the durability, easy cleaning, and that it can be used for a newborn, infant, and toddler. I have read other people's reviews and heard mention of problems with the hammock. Our daughter was 9.2 at birth. We did sponge baths on a towel until her umbilical cord fell off (at 5 weeks) and by then she was 12 pounds. The hammock worked great for her. We thought she might fuss about the new experience of being halfway submerged in water, but the hammock cradled her well. I like that it keeps half of her in water, keeping her warm and letting her bottom soak. She is now 12 weeks and over 16 pounds and is still in the hammock, though she's getting a bit long for it. Some people have mentioned hammock instability and having to use 2 people at bathtime. I bathe my daughter on my own most of the time and have never had any problems. Mine's a wiggler, but the bathtub configuration of having all the supplies needed in a built-in at one end makes it easy to keep one hand on the baby at all times. As for the temperature plug that some complain about...spend the extra $3 for one of the floating temperature indicators if you're worried you can't tell what is too hot for your baby.

Customer Review: cadillac of tubs
Summary: 5 Stars

this tub has been one of the best things I registered for. for the first few months we used the hammock in the tub, and bathing my son was a breeze. now the hammock has been removed and he is using the infant side of the tub (more of an incline than the toddler side). I love the no skid pads to the seat - it keeps baby from squirming so much. The other side of the tub has a straight backed seat for toddlers.

Another feature to this tub (one that we haven't needed, but it's nice to know is there) is that the bottom of the tub has grooves for fitting the tub into a sink (single or double). We just put the tub inside our big tub - my son's a splasher and we've found this is the best way to contain the tidal waves he creates. But I love the idea that we could use this in a sink if needed.

The only feature I haven't seen work is the drain plug is supposed to be one of those color changing things to prevent filling the tub with too hot water. I've yet to see the thing change color. But, we also have one of those rubber ducks that is supposed to do the same thing, and it changes color even in cool water. I guess those things just aren't reliable. Plus, the fact that this tub even has a drain plug is another great feature in my book!

Customer Review: Perfect for first time parents!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We got this tub as a baby shower gift and it has been wonderful! One of my biggest parenting fears was how was I ever going to bathe that slippery little girl?!? The hammock that attached to the tub did the trick for the first month or so while I was still getting used to bathing her. This tub made it simple. I sat it in the kitchen sink and put her in the hammock. No bending over and no worrying about her slipping around.

Now that she's four months old, she still loves the tub...and has discovered the joy of spashing!! Another thing about the tub is that it's nice because there's nothing in the way "down there" like the tub my mother got for when my daughter stays with grandma. Her tub has a crappy little bit that comes up in between the legs which makes washing my daughter's bottom difficult.

My only two complaints have to do with the drain. #1 the drain doesn't change colors to indicate temperature like it claims (but the hospital gave us a bath tester thingy so that wasn't a big deal)and #2 I find it incredibly slow to drain the water out. I like to pull the plug and let all the soapy water drain and then rinse my daughter in fresh water, but it takes forever for the water to drain out.

I highly recommend this tub!!!

Customer Review: Perfect newborn to infant tub...
Summary: 5 Stars

We originally weren't going to buy a baby tub, thinking that we would be able to bathe our son in our kitchen sink. But we changed our minds when we saw this tub. Our son was 9lbs at birth (and yes, I had him all natural!), fitting perfectly into the mesh sling. I liked how the sling held him comfortably in the water without me or my husband having to hold onto his floppy body the whole time.

Now that our son is 4 months old, we don't use the sling anymore. The reclining position seems to work just fine. He enjoys kicking his feet and flailing his arms to slpash the water. The sides of the tub are smooth so he doesn't hurt himself at all. The non-slip inserts keep him where he's supposed to be with a minimum of repositioning.

The plug in the bottom makes it extremely easy to empty. Also, we will leave the plug open and let water from the tap run into the tub so that the water in the tub doesn't get too soapy for rinsing.

There's a section at one end where you can put clean water, washclothes or whatever strikes your fancy. The tub also fits very securely over single or double sinks.

While it's kind of big/bulky, this tub's many convenient features more than make up for its size. We can see using the tub for a long time.

Customer Review: Great Tub
Summary: 5 Stars

I was given this tub as a shower gift. I luv it! I had registered on Babie's R Us' website for a collapsable tub to make storage easier, and someone also gave that to me. But in reading some reviews on it, some people said it leaked....well back to the store that went (unopened). I kept this one because I liked the idea of the sling for a newborn and I liked the fact that it has the stopper that is supposed to change color if the water is too hot. Well my daughter hated taking a bath in the sling. Each time I put her in it, she looked terrified as if she was going to fall out of it. Eventually, she started to hang a leg off the sling as if to brace herself (it was kinda funny to see her doing that :). But I finally decided, enough is enough and started giving her baths without the sling and she now likes to take a bath. I like the padding for her back and the contoured floor so she won't slip. Now, I think she really looks forward to taking a bath. Also, because of my odd shaped kitchen sink, the tub wouldn't fit into it, so I just set this tub up in her room on her changing table with a towel under it. It works out really great. I am very pleased with this tub and now, so is Anisa.
