Baby Products Reviews of The First Year's Infant To Toddler Tub with Sling, BlueCustomer Review: Great tub for the first few months, but then.... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this tub based on the great reviews and for the first four months, I was not disappointed! First, I love that this tub fits perfectly in both a standard kitchen sink and in an oversized sink (we've used it in both). Second, the sling feature has been wonderful! My son really enjoyed lying in the sling for bathtime, and I felt he was very secure in it - no slipping or sliding around. Bathtime was a pleasure for both of us. Every so often I have removed the sling and tried to sit him in the inclined seat. The "tushie bump" on the bottom simply is not big enough to hold him up in the seat. He just slips down over the bump. When I try to hold his bottom up with one hand and bathe him with the other (not an easy task!), he starts shifting his torso to the left or right and hits his head on the side of the tub! If I just had a third hand to hold his head up, we might be OK.... But after each try, it's been back to the sling for us. Last night I decided my 27" baby is simply too long for the sling. But at 4 1/2 months, he's not yet happy sitting in the upright side - plus we have the same left/right sliding issues on that side that we have with the inclined side. In a few weeks or months he may be perfectly OK sitting upright, but in the meantime, our "perfect" tub is unusable! So here I am on Amazon.com dejectedly shopping for another tub. We're really going to miss this one.
Customer Review: Excellent infant tub so far.. Summary: 5 Stars
We were given a tub, Safety 1st Infant to Toddler stages tub, that I'd placed on my baby registry, and it just never fit our long baby very well. So while out shopping we noticed this tub.
It has a nice area to hold shampoo or drape washcloths. It has a very thoughtful water catching plastic lip behind the seat, so that when we are rinsing baby's hair with a washcloth, excess water that gets squeezed out drips back down into the tub.
All you parents know however that, that's no gaurantee you won't get water splashed outside the tub from a happy, mobile baby! ;)
In the last tub, baby stubbed his toe against a sharp plastic lip, and boy did that make him MAD! This tub is all gentle curves and no sharp angled surfaces.
I really like the built in drain plug that turns from GREEN to WHITE if the water is "TOO HOT!!" for baby. Veeerrrry thoughtful feature.
Our baby is a long baby and so the infant hammock never fit him, even before 1 month old, and it seems a little cheesy to be honest, but it's probably great for baby's under 8 lbs.
Baby reclines comfortably in this tub, and doesn't slide around as much as he did in the other tub, both have a foam or rubber backing that is meant to prevent slip sliding by baby.
We love this tub, and are looking forward to it's continued use through the toddler years.
Customer Review: Scrub-a-dub-dub, toddler and baby in the bathtub! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the only baby/toddler bath that I've tried that really workes COMFORTABLY for babies and toddlers. I love how it fits snuggly onto our kitchen sink, making this bathtub convenient for parents and their backs! No more crouching over trying to bathe the baby in a baby-bath, placed inside the big bath.
Not only is this bathtub convenient, but it's easy to use and safe. The tub comes with a hammock for infants. And the deep caddies hold soaps and shampoos within easy reach. These are excellent features for parents who bath their infants alone. If you've ever tried this in a conventional bath or sink, you know that you are always one hand short when it comes time to soap your baby up.
When my mom bought this tub claiming that it is safe and useful for both babies and toddlers, I was skeptical. How can a bathtub work well for a tiny newborn and a growing toddler? The secret is in the flip! One side is used for bathing baby and then simply flip it around and the other side is used for toddlers. What a great design.
I know many people who bathe their toddlers in a standard bathtub, but I always felt that there was just too much space and water for a small toddler in the big-people bath. The Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn-to-Toddler Tub, has enough water capacity to let a toddler kick, splash and play, but not enough to look as if she is lost at sea!
Customer Review: Disappointed Summary: 3 Stars
I registered for this tub and from what I read it was one of the better ones. However, the tub does not fit in my sink and it is a double sink. We have to angle it and so it does not sit level. We tried every possible way but the tub is just too big for our sink.
Also, the hammock while it is a good idea seems a huge disappointment. Our baby kept sliding down in it and it literally takes two people to bath baby. One person has to hold him up, otherwise he slides all the way down to be laying with the water level and the second person has to wash him. Also, the hammock gets ICE cold when wet. Since the hammock doesn't sit directly in the water, except in the center, the padded head cushion gets wet and gets very cold. I was very shocked after the first time we used it.
Even though we have used it twice now and baby is only 14 days old I am not happy at all with this tub to date. It is too big for our sink, the hammock gets cold, and baby slides down into the water.
Also, I have never noticed the plug to change color... we have always used the rubber duckie with the word HOT on it.... that has indicated water being too hot while the tub plug never changed.
Would I get this tub again? Seeing that this has the highest ratings out there probably, but I would not put high expectations on it.
Customer Review: Great bathtub for newborns! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this item for my second child, after having the First Years Four Stage Bath System. I wanted a better quality tub that would comfortably support a newborn and then convert for toddler use (the Four Stage tub didn't support my first child as a newborn - she would slip and slide and she hated the tub - the tub also broke when I started using the upright toddler feature). The Sure Comfort comes with a sling that is perfect for supporting newborns - they are comfortably cradled in the sling and they can be submerged in warm water, depending upon how you shorten or lengthen the straps on the sling. My little guy is comfy, as he can sit in warm water and he doesn't flail around in the sling. Since they can't slip in the sling, your hands are much freer for efficient bathing! I had to keep one hand on my daughter at all times in the Four Stage tub when she was an infant because she would slide all over if I didn't. The tub includes two different style seats molded in the plastic for both an older infant and a toddler. I haven't used the older child seats yet, but they look like they will fit the bill nicely as my son grows. My only comment is that the tub is on the larger side, but we just store it in our bathtub with the curtain closed during the day. I highly recommend this tub!
