Things I like about the Tadpole mat:
1. the way all the tiles connect together is very secure and holds up against my two large dogs and a very rambunctious toddler. I even use it for my own situps in the mornings as it's nicer on my back than my yoga mat.
2. I love the colors on the pink and blue mats, they're colorful and bright without being obnoxious and I'm happy to have it in our living/family room without feeling like it turns the whole room into a daycare.
3. The price is perfect, unlike the Skip Hop, which is over three times the price of the Tadpole pat.
Things I wish Tadpole had done better:
1. the bottom of the mat is pretty slippery on my wood floor and I had to put a non-slip rug mat underneath, but since then the playmat has stayed put.
2. i wish it was a bit tougher, the very filed down nails of my dogs still cause some wear and tear, plus anything that sits on the mat (like my child's tool bench or toy chest) makes an indelible imprint in the mat.
3. I wish the green color came as delightfully designed as the blue and pink options, instead of looking like something you'd keep in a mudroom.
Overall, since I bought it as a soft cushion for my new little climber, it works like a charm for its purpose. For under $25? It's damn near perfect.
