I got this same mobile with the farm animals on it and I must say I am very happy that I did. My son was about 3 months and little weary of it at first, but grew to absolutely love it. The animals, or whatever model you get, are removable so you can leave it in the crib longer and just use it as a music box. My son is 11 months now and loves to play with it, which is nice because when he wakes up in the morning he starts pushing buttons and enjoying himself, I am getting to sleep a little longer.
Also, a MAJOR plus is that it is very portable when just a music box and it takes two seconds to take off of the crib. We have used it many times on trips and it always does the trick to get him to sleep! I just used it last weekend on a trip and like I said my son is 11 months now. Our music box has been on lots of trips, dropped, chewed on, thrown out of the sroller numerous times and it still works as well as the day we got it. Wonderful mobile and you will get alot of good use out of it!!!!

I GOT LUCKY WITH THIS ONE! AFTER MY BABY WAS ALMOST 2 MONTHS OLD I REALIZED THAT THE MOBILE THAT CAME WITH HER BEDDING WASN'T GOING TO WORK FOR US VERY MUCH LONGER SINCE I HAD TO WIND IT UP EVERY 4 MINS AND IT WAS VERY LOUD WHEN I DID WIND IT UP!
I WENT TO BABIES R US AND ORIGNALLY GOT A FLUTTERBIES MOBILE FROM FISHER PRICE BUT IT BROKE THE SECOND WE PUT IT ON, SO I WENT OT EXCHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER ONCE SINCE IT WAS REALLY CUTE I THOUGHT I'D TRY AGAIN AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE , SO I BOUGHT THIS ONCE BECAUSE I LIKED THEN IDEA OF THE 3 DIFFERENT MOTIONS!
NOT ONLY DOES IT PLAY MUSIC AND RUN ON BATTERIES , IT GOES ROUND AND ROUND, UP AND DOWN AND HAS THE SLIDING PLASTIC PIECES WITH REALLLLLY HELP HER SLEEP.
THE MOZART IS GTAT FOR STIMULATION AND THE BACH IS GREAT FOR PUTTING HER TO SLEEP!
I HAVE HAD IT NOW FOR A MONTH AND HAVEN'T HAD TO CHANGE BATTERIES AT ALL AND I USE IT AT LEAST 5 TIMES A DAY!
I RECOMMEND THIS FOR ALLLLLLLL!

This is both my first baby, and first mobile. The baby has liked this mobile quite a lot. He will often watch it until the music finishes. I don't get any sense that he discriminates between the three tunes that are played. He is starting to show some signs of getting bored with it. But for about three weeks it captivated his attention. Also, now, it looks like he is trying to "take swings" at the mobile shapes as they go by, but he isn't coordinated at 1 1/2 months and has only managed to hit the red one once. If he ever really does learn to grab the toys, the mobile will go into storage.
Update: He is at 11 weeks now, and is still captivated by this mobile. If we play the music twice through, he'll start to get a little grumpy with it. We try to limit the number of times that we start it up in a given day, as he would probably watch it many times throughout the day. We are thinking that we should probably buy another, different, mobile, if just to give him a little variety.

This mobile has been a lifesaver from day one. At the beginning, it would give me a few extra minutes here or there, but since she hit about 3 months old, she gets so excited to see and hear this mobile! The music and motion lasts about 15 minutes, and I always have to let it run the full cycle TWICE before she wants to get out of her crib! The only disadvantage is that sometimes she gets excited when I put her in her crib to sleep and it takes her a little longer to put herself to sleep, but she really enjoys the colors, shapes, and designs. If you have a sturdy changing table with rails or a portable playard, then you may want to put this over that. The only disadvantage is that you need to have slats on the crib, so that you can hook the base to it. As a result, I don't know if it would fit on a playard, but they should work on the design, so that it can move to other locations, other than just the crib. Definitely a lifesaver when I need some time to do other things!Customer Review: Best mobile for a fussy baby

Our son really was the world's fussiest baby until he started walking and talking. Starting at about 2 weeks, this was the ONE AND ONLY thing that would make him stop crying. It was almost scary, how well it worked... If you are the parent of a very fussy baby, this is definitely worth a shot. I get it for all of my good friends as a baby gift (OK, it's a little pricey for those more casual acquaintances), and the reviews I hear back have been unanimously very good.
We had no problems with the motor konking out, but the manufacturing quality may have changed int he last 3 years since we bought our first one. I am about to buy another for our second child, because the first one broke when the stem holding the mobile part got wrenched apart from its base during moving, tearing the wires inside. It's true that it goes through batteries fairly quickly, but if you've got small kids you should invest in a set of rechargeables anyway...
