Baby Products Reviews of Symphony in Motion Mobile - GeometricCustomer Review: Great mobile, but there's a glitch with the music. Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this and a similar mobile for our new twins (that's right, TWINS!). Anyway, this is a great product, with lots to keep the kids occupied and happy. The insides of the cones holding the dangling shapes are covered in a black-and-white swirl pattern, further enhancing the child's focus abilities. We've had these for a few weeks, and the kids love them, although there seems to be a lot going on, and the kids sometimes get overstimulated.
One major drawback is the fact that the Mozart and Bach songs are EXACTLY THE SAME!. I don't know too much about classical music, so I thought that they were just similar when I first heard them. However, after many plays, I can say with certainty that they are, in fact, identical. Again, I don't know too much about classical music, so I don't know which composer it really is, but I do know that Bach died about 35 years before Mozart was born, so they couldn't have collaborated. My kids don't seem to mind, but it does bother me a little.
If you can get past the music glitch, this is a very entertaining and very fun mobile, guaranteed to keep your child occupied and happy.
Customer Review: Not For The Sleepy Summary: 5 Stars
My two-month old son loves this mobile, as it is very stimulating. The bright geometrical shapes, sliding shapes, black and white spirals, and constant turning keep him wide awake and highly stimulated. He coos laughs, and shouts at this mobile; it is definately one of his favorite toys. It also provides a great amount of exercise for him, as he is constantly moving his arms and legs in enjoyment! My husband and I received this mobile as a gift, and were grateful to have received such an innovative one, and not a pastel mobile with little animals playing a lullabye. I don't know if it truly increases his intelligence or not, but I definately know that he can easily spend 30 minutes in his crib watching this mobile. As a parent, I like the three music selections, because I don't end up singing "Mary had a little lamb" at work. The arm is long enough to push it to one side when it is time for my son to go to sleep, and once he reaches six months, the mobile arm is detachable, but the music box can stay in his crib, an added bonus, whereas other mobiles have to be put away.
Customer Review: Great- BUT IT BREAKS SOON AFTER Summary: 2 Stars
Okay- This product is beautiful and very colorful. My baby loved it for the 3 weeks that it worked! I give it 2 stars for appearance only. The on/off button kinda stuck from the begining, and it just got worse! I managed to make it work for a week or so more, then it just up and died! I have replaced the batteries, but now only the music part works and it no longer spins....what is the point? Great idea, but they have to work the bugs out. What's worse is that they know the problem exists and haven't fixed the problem and aren't returning emails of those who have questioned the manufacturing. When you buy a toy at in this price range, you expect it to work....and so you throw the box away.....only for it to break and try to return it (without the packaging)and you can't take it back. Now- can you imagine keeping the boxes of every toy you buy your child- I would have to get a new house just to store them. Bottom line- they need to fix the product or at least recall it so we can get one that works (at least for a year) or give us our money back.
Customer Review: great product Summary: 4 Stars
I was wary buying this product because of the reviews saying the thing broke. Well, mine stopped turning a couple months later too. Just call Tiny Love (don't email, per other reviews) and they will send a new motor. Haven't received or used it yet, so don't know how long it will last, but... My twins LOVE this mobile. We didn't have a problem with a loud motor. The little things that skitch around did seem loud to me, and I was afraid the noise would keep the boys awake, but it never does. The music is the nicest, most real-sounding music of any baby product we have - not the typical tinny, plunky sounding nonsense. It is very easy to attach, and if you do it correctly, it will not fall off the standard type crib onto your baby. I wish the volume could go one lower, but I stuff a rag between it and the crib bumper and that muffles it a bit. Guess the motor breaking is somewhat a pain, but the boys love the product and that's worth a phone call to customer service to me. Because of that, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.
Customer Review: Best mobile available Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased our Symphony In Motion for our first daughter (now 2 years old.) She absolutely loved it from the time it was purchased at approximately 2 months of age until we removed it from her crib at 6 months. We had absolutely no problems with it despite daily use and rarely had to replace batteries. We recently got it out for daughter #2 and she is equally entranced. After approximately 2-3 months of daily use the on/off switch stopped working. My husband temporarily repaired it with pieces from the Bach switch as we didn't want to go a day without it. I emailed Tiny Love on a Friday morning using the "request replacement parts" section on their web site. We received a replacement music box by Monday afternoon. Incidentally, with our first daughter, we purchased one of those cute, wind up, matched our pastel nursery mobiles and it was a total flop. My daughter wasn't the least bit interested. So forget trying to coordinate everything and go with the Symphony In Motion. It's a real must have.
