Customer Review: great buy, but........

We baught this mobile for our son when he was almost two months old, and from the start he was mesmerized by it. The music is great for putting him to sleep, in fact he is almost two and he STILL needs the music to fall asleep with! We take the music box with us on vacations, to grandmas for late night dates, EVERYWHERE he will be sleeping in an unfamiliar room!!! The batteries do need replaced everyfew months, but big woop. Our problem was that one day the mobile stopped working. It wouldn't turn at all. We tried replacing the batteries... nothing.
All in all it is a worthwhile buy, I will still buy a new one for my next child, but I will keep my reciept so it can be replaced if it breaks!!!

I don't know where the child care industry gets the idea that bright colors and geometric shapes are "soothing." I got this mobile as a gift but my 3-month-old daughter does NOT like it at all. She pulls up her arms and stares at it sideways, looking completely freaked out. I agree with a fellow reviewer; it is TOO much stimulation. My daughter's original mobile had pastel moons and stars and she would dance under it at coo at it. Too bad the motor on that one broke!The music on this mobile is very nice, however; not your typical tinny electronic beeps (what my mom calls "tacky music"). It sounds like a real piano. I wish they would make more music boxes for children's toys like this!
Customer Review: Entertaining & soothing mobile for baby

When I first set this mobile up in my daughter's crib, I was amazed at the engineering genius behind making each geometric shape move so effortlessly and creatively. The music is very calming and I have used the mobile mainly during diaper changes to keep her occupied.
The only negative I can find with this mobile is the fact that the three songs that it plays begin to sound awfully similar after using the mobile awhile.
Some of the previous reviewers have mentioned that the mobile has become loose and falls to the side, but I haven't had that problem. It is very secure in the crib rails.
Mostly, I am pleased with this mobile and would recommend it for all babies!

We bought this mobile to avoid all the pastel "twinkle little star" mobiles. I don't buy the hype that it increases your baby's IQ but she really does love it. We got it when she was one month old and within a few weeks she was tracking the objects -- it bought us about 10 minutes first thing in the morning -- long enough to shower -- when nothing else (even the swing) kept her occupied. Now at 7 months it's still cheers her up (even sick!) she smiles and kicks and wiggles under it (Daddy calls it baby arobics).
I do agree with the review I read that it's for stimulation --not putting to sleep! My only regret is that it doesn't have a quieter setting -- babies have very good hearing!
Customer Review: THIS IS A MUST HAVE!

I cannot imagine life without this mobile. Our baby has been watching it since he was 3 weeks old. He's now 4 months and hasn't tired of it at all. My father-in-law, who is a pediatrician, purchased it for us because of the bright, contrasting primary colors and classical music. Whenever we travel and will be gone overnight, this mobile comes with us. We haven't noticed any problem with a loud motor. The only thing we hear is the classical music - and as a classically trained musician, they picked good pieces. Don't waste your money on the plush pastel mobiles that match nursery decors. They're not as easy for a baby to focus on. This is much more interesting for a baby's developing eyes and mind.
