Baby Products Reviews of Symphony in Motion Mobile - GeometricCustomer Review: Baby Loves This -- well worth the money Summary: 5 Stars
There are many ways to spend money on baby gear -- this was one of our better investments -- used daily and WELL WORTH the money. You get a lot of entertainment value (sights, sounds, movement) for your money. Although I think the geometric shapes are perhaps better for babies, the animals symphony in motion mobile has the same music & functions and would also be a good bet.I waited two months to buy a mobile -- I had received a cute (to me) one as a gift and thought it was sufficient, even though it didn't have the rotating motion. It didn't keep the baby interested, and I wanted to try something more intriguing to baby. Although I preferred the looks of the Tiny Love animals Symphony in Motion mobile, I purchased this one on my mother's recommendation (because babies are drawn to the bright primary colors and simple shapes) and have been extremely pleased with the choice. The mobile has so many parts and sounds and action to keep baby interested. Three rods extend from the curved red ball centerpiece -- each rod holds a plush shape -- a red pyramid, a yellow ball, and a blue cube -- the shapes have little eyes, tails, & rooster-comb-like attachments. Each shape is under a little tent decorated underneath with black & white spirals rotating around an axis. The spirals rotate as the entire mobile circles overhead, with little pieces moving along curved dowels as the mobile turns. Sounds like it would caused sensory overload, but Baby can really track the movement of the pieces. The mobile can entertain Baby for a half hour or so at a time, several times a day (yikes -- hope I don't sound like a neglectful mother). The mobile plays three pieces of simple, classical piano music -- selections by Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. The Mozart is the opening movement from Mozart's Piano Sonata in A major; I don't know the Beethoven (but the crib toy "Sunshine Symphony" plays the same Beethoven piece), and the Bach is the prelude from Prelude & Fugue in C major from the Well-Tempered Klavier. Granted, by the time your baby is five or six months old and ready to move on to other distractions, you will be ready to move on to different music. The music isn't exciting, but it is pleasant and it's not annoying, electronic, baby music. You can choose to play any one of the pieces or all three consecutively. I also found this mobile to be very easy to install. It conveniently pushes from side to side, so you can move it out of the way to get baby in & out of the crib.
