We love this swaddle blanket so much that we picked up another design (the pink with mod dots). This blanket is a very soft flannel and it's larger size makes it perfect for swaddling! Even though they're more money than traditional swaddle blankets, they are worth every penny. This has quickly become one of our favorite and most-used baby items! We used one of these swaddle blankets with our first baby and now it is my go-to gift for new parents. The blanket size is ample enough to do a proper swaddle. Combined with the strategies in the Happiest Baby on the Block we were not only able to get the kiddo down to sleep at night, but she would sleep for longer stretches. It allowed us those few extra hours of sleep to regain some sanity. The blanket is durable and well made, so our kiddo can use it for many years as a nice flannel blanket.
One of the hardest parts of the swaddle is learning how to do it well. It is so nice that this blanket comes with the instructions sewn on. The tag is a satiny material and sewn on flat, so there are no scratchy edges. It is a nice reminder for experienced and new swaddlers alike.

I bought two of these when my daughter was 2 months old. But by then, she didn't want to be swaddled anymore. However, she sleeps with one of these every night in the summertime, and at naptime. It is soft, washes well and is just plain snuggly. I now give these to friends having babies, and always get rave reviews. I have to add my own comment here to let you know how great these blankets are. They get softer the more you wash them. They are so soft and comfortable! When my daughter was a baby, swaddling was easy and effective. Now that she is a toddler, these blankets are still her blanket of choice. Because of the large size, she is able to use it as a regular blanket in her crib.
These blankets also come packaged pretty - just like in the picture - and in a clear wrap. I think they are a great new baby gift. Enjoy!
