Customer Review: Forget the swaddling blankets with velcro

This one is the only one worth its price. Comes with easy to follow instructions sewn right onto one side.
I love this blanket. First of all, it's the right size for swaddling 40" by 40", and the weight is just right, a soft, light flannel that wraps baby up to be toasty and warm, but doesn't overheat, even for summer babies.
When I had my first child, I was easily frustrated by how quickly he broke free of his swaddle. For my second child, I found this blanket, and he never broke free. I used it for him and my third, and I give these to all my friends and relatives who are expecting. (I'm a bit of a swaddling zealot...pair this blanket with Harvy Karp's book or DVD "The Happiest Baby on the Block" -- it works!)
I always kept two on hand, for when one was in the wash.
Once baby outgrows the swaddle, the blanket continues to come in handy. It's nice and large, and makes a great shade over the stroller. Also works as a cover-up when you're nursing.

This really is the ultimate receiving blanket! Besides being the perfect size for swaddling (and a handy little swaddling tutorial printed on every label) it's great for just about any situation, is just the right size and is not too heavy or too light. I've used it to: toss over the stroller when the baby is sleeping, folded it up on my lap to provide support for baby's head while nursing, covered the baby to keep him warm with room left to wipe drool :) It comes in a wide array of colors to match any nursery!Customer Review: Large enough to swaddle appropriately...

We brought our new son home and immediately placed him in this swaddle blanket which we noticed was large enough to swaddle him appropriately and not have it unravel before our eyes. At this time, the receiving blankets aren't cutting it anymore and are too small for him, he is only about 7 lbs. now, and we will continue to use this blanket at home. Also, we use it when we go out to cover his carrier when we have him in it because it is thick enough to keep the draft off him.Customer Review: Excellent blanket!

I recieved a Swaddle Designs blanket as a baby gift and it is now my #1 gift for new babies. It is perfect for swaddling, but the large size is also great to put on the floor when the baby needs a play area, and as it is thin, it fits nicely into a diaper bag or stroller to carry with you all the time as the baby gets older. I received this exact blanket for a gift. Once I started using it with my newborn, I knew I had to purchase a second one. The size is great. It will be big enough to last for awhile. The fabric is soft and just the right weight. I didn't want something that would be too heavy and overheat the baby. I love the colors and designs too!
