Customer Review: A Great, Simple, Gate for Entryways
Summary: 5 Stars

We have had our two gates for over three years and moved them from three houses during that time. They have been perfect for keeping our child out of places she shouldn't be when she was a crawler and a toddler, and now they are great for keeping our new puppy out of trouble. They can be a little tricky to get installed, but once they are in, as long as no one pushes super hard on them (but this is the same with all pressure gates if you ask me), they stay up throughout the entire time we need them. We like that there isn't any complicated latches to open and close, so now that my child is a preschooler, she is able to open and close the gates without assistance. We also love the height of it, which helps since we are tall people. Overall, it is a great product if you just want a swing gate that isn't complicated to keep younger ones (both two and four legged) out of areas you don't want them in.

Customer Review: opening is narrow
Summary: 3 Stars

I will say that this gate is the only swinging gate I have found that is secure but my older children can still open it to get through. It also doesnt look as junky as alot of the other ones.
However- the actual walk through opening is rather annoying as its very narrow. About 20 inches maybe. My laundry basket doesnt fit through and because of the bottom bar that sits on the floor, it is also harder to get your vacuum etc in to where you want to go. If you are used to moving a pack n play or exersaucer or the like through the doorway, that will be very difficult as well.
The height of this gate is 36 inches which makes that even harder since you have a higher gate to lift your things over.
That said, the one I just purchased is sitting here- and Im not quite sure wether to keep it yet.
You would think that by now some manufacturer could have made a perfect gate.

Customer Review: Gates Gates Gates
Summary: 4 Stars

These work nicely when you want to gate off between two solid walls. Not so good if you're wanting to press against say a railing. Once in place. This extra tall works just like the shorter rails. It's more natural for taller people like me. The only drawback is that it opens only one direction (as opposed to bi-directional opening on the shorter gates).

I've got 4 of them in the house now. The lift and release function works great. It's nice that the gate sort of closes itself to a latched state.

Features I'd wish they think about.... My boys (twins) like to stand on the gate. So if it's propped open, there's a lot of leverage applied to the main gate such that it will move in position unless tightly fastened.

It's a good product... durable, easy to use. I've used the extensions... they are not as secured as I'd like but it works.

Customer Review: Perfect for Us Old Folks with Young Dogs
Summary: 5 Stars

After pouring through Amazon reviews and scrutinizing the stock at Babies R Us, I finally picked this gate because it seemed to be the only one that truly did not need any fancy installation. It is great. It fits right in the bedroom doorway of our '50s house. We can open it with one hand, and it swings like a gate. All I had to do was take it out of the box, position it in the doorway, and turn the large screw type knobs with my hand until it was tightened in the doorway. Sort of like giant screw type earrings....Very easy and fast. They enclose a tool/wrench type thing you could use, but I used my hands and it worked out fine. I am going back to buy another for the other bedroom door. It opens like a gate, either way you swing it. You have to step over the bottom bar, but it is only a couple of inches and no problem, even for a klutz like me. I would highly recommend it!

Customer Review: HEAD ENTRAPMENT!! BEWARE
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this gate becasue of the self closing feature as well as the height. I have had the gate just over 1 month and it isn't closing properly. First, the bottom catch began not catching- so I had to push the bottom closed to secure it and AVOID my daughters head getting stuck between the bars. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it but nothing worked. This morning my 17 month old actually was able to push it open! (I had locked it and checked to be sure both top and bottom locks were locked and they were but she still pushed it open!) Its a good thing the top opened or my daughter's head would have been stuck in the gate!! I do not feel safe with this gate...I have three other kidco gates in my home of which one is 7years old and never had any problems with them!I would recommend a kidco gate for every home. If I could give this gate a NEGAtive star i WOULD!
