Customer Review: What were the thinking??
Summary: 1 Stars

Let me start off by saying that I purchased this gate for my cat!! (thats another story) One of the first problems I noticed right away was that the tension bolts for the bottom are 'at the very bottom'. Why is this a problem for most people? Most people have wood trim where the floor meets the wall making it not a 'flat surface' for the tension bolts to 'tension'. Next problem was noticed once I started doing measurements. The gate comes with 2 extensions (5" & 10"), the 5" is too small and the 10" is not big enough and using both of them is too much!! Now maybe the width of my doorway is a odd one, but the gate says it fits 28" to 47.5". DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOUR DOORWAY IS 43" WIDE! I returned mine and could tell that the one we bought was returned before us! This should be more of a $20.99 gate!

Customer Review: Wonderful gate-Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

It is very hard to find a gate that will open that does not have to be mounted.. I was unable to have a mounted gate because of plaster wallboard. This gate solved my problem with keeping my dogs downstairs and the cats upstairs. Each pressure point is individual so I can use it with the moldings along the bottom. It is tall enough so the dogs can not jump over it, but does not slam shut like someone else complained about. I also like the fact that extra extenions come with the gate. Most stairways are wider than 34". This gate was less expensive than the "other" gate because by the time you buy the other gate and the extenion/extenions, it will cost you a lot more. It was very easy to mount and even my 5 yr old can open it without much trouble. I would recomend this gate to anyone.

Customer Review: Finally! A tall one!
Summary: 4 Stars

Ok, i read the bad reviews, and one sounded like bad luck w/ parts. The other was a comparison, but the complaint was specific to their preference. We just bought ours today, had a quick 5 minute installation, and voila! A great dog gate! High enough that our rambuncious already-large puppy can't jump over it, slim enough that she can't slither through it, and no horizontal bars for her to use as steps. She hates it, we love it! I don't know yet how it will do long term, and I see a potential problem with the weak-looking latch...but after all the gates we've gone through and returned, we'll find a way to lock it when/if it breaks. i'm sure my toddlers can open it, which is fine, so judging by the latch, I wouldnd't recommend it as a stair gate. But for the dog owners, you ought to try it!

Customer Review: Very effective
Summary: 5 Stars

We have two of these gates at the top and bottom of our stairs (but not positioned directly across the stairs). My husband wanted something that was not hardware mounted, so we bought this because it was tall and pressure mounted. The top and bottom adjust individually to accomodate baseboards and in our case, banisters as well. Once you have it in place, it holds well. You just have to make double sure that you hear the latch click into place. Our 21 month old is very active. A couple of times I have not paid full attention when closing and apparently have not entirely closed and latched the gate...the little munchkin was able to pull it back open and take off up the stairs. So if you are looking for a reliable pressure mounted gate you would do well to purchase this one.

Customer Review: Beware if your child can climb
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this gate for my undersized 2 year old daughter. The gate appears to be sturdy and, while not as easy as I had hoped to install, it did appear to stay in place. My daughter climbed over it immediately. It held up as she straddled the vertical bars and used tension to push herself up, but it was entirely too easy for her to climb. Other issues that may be of concern are the locking mechanism and bar at the base of the gate. The bar is easy to trip over if you set the gate up in a high-traffic area. The locking mechanism may be easy for a toddler to open if the tension on the gate isn't high enough, but too much tension and it's a pain for anyone to open. On the plus side, it is the only gate that I've found thus far that can fit into a 28" opening.
