If you are strong, and don't mind using muscle when trying to pry open one of the panels of this thing, the safe play yard does its job. However, like too many safety products that are made without much thought to who will actually be using them (i.e., mothers who are often sleep deprived...bless their souls), this product has a seriuos design flaw: it has no lock/unlock mechanism. What you need is brute strenght to pry the panel up and out, and when the baby is safely in the yard, you need to, again, lift and pry it back into place. Not the most user friendly design I've seen. Summer Infant has another product that does have a door, which we subsequently purchased.Customer Review: mothers helper

This is the second time I have bought this item.. when my grandson was 1 yr old, I bought this to use in the house
as a play area to keep him safe. We also used this as an outside play area, at the beach, in the backyard
and when visiting friends. Of course, his parents won't let it out of their hands, so now, he is three and I bought a second one to have here at my house and use it as a double protection in front of my pool gate and to seperate the dog from the living room when baby is here. It is an awesome product and very easy to set up and take down and take with you and to store. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND this product for anyone with little ones!!!

I originally purchased this with extentions as a play area for my baby girl that is on her way. I have two large dogs and wanted to have a completely safe area on the floor where we can play and not get drooled on or pawed at. We now have it set up inside the dog door so that the dogs can come in the AC and go out with no problem and it blocks them off from the rest of the house. I love this Play Yard... It's been a complete life saver and the baby isn't even here yet. It comes put together so it's easy to set up and easy to add the extensions. It also folds together to make it flatter for storage. My dogs love it also... they think it's there own little room!Customer Review: Exactly what we needed!

We love this product. We had actually purchased a similar product at a local baby store. However, it did not have a gate feature, it was horrible to open and reconfigure, and part of the plastic broke off of it while my son was playing in it (he was only 7 months old); he thought it would be good snack; luckily he was not injured. So I took it back and started looking online. This product is great--lighter weight, but sturdy, has a gate feature, is taller (for those little ones that like to try to climb) and folds up very easily w/ joints that can be tightened or loosened. After researching many baby and pet play pens I decided on this one. I am sure glad I did. This was the most value for my money and turned out to be just what I needed. We have a new labrador puppy and I didn't want to use a traditional dog crate. He's about 11 weeks now and he loves it, goes right to it to take a nap. This pen is well made and easy to put together and take down. It's tall enough for now and gives him enough room to have seperate areas for sleep, eat and potty pad if needed (hasn't had to use it though :)
I work in a large pet store chain store and feel this is better than the metal ones we sell, based both on quality and price.
