I bought this gate a couple months ago. My son was not yet crawling, but he could scooch himself wherever he needed to go. It was perfect for keeping him in one place with all his toys, and away from the tables and plants that he was wanting to get into.
However, as he got older, and learned to crawl and get around more quickly, I felt bad sticking him in here. There really isn't much room to move around (I can't even imagine putting TWO children in this). I ordered the two panel extension, but never received it (they canceled my order...argh!). Having to improvise, I used my couch as a natural barrier on one side, and attached each end of the gate to each end of my couch. It gave him TONS of room! Now he can crawl all over the living room without getting into anything, and the gate's sturdy enough that he can't move it or knock it over. It's a HUGE help!

I was looking for a play pen to help house break our new puppy. The height and size of the Summer Infant Secure Surround Play Safe Play Yard looked like just what I needed. I read previous reviews on this product to be aware of the pros and cons before deciding to purchase it. The pen was delivered within the stated time frame. Assembly was super easy because it came assembled. If the pen is to be used for children, just be aware that it is light weight and can be moved around by the children playing inside of it. It is perfect for kennel training your puppy. A puppy could possibly learn to climb up the pen, but that is yet to be a problem with our pup. I did have to remove 2 panels to further limit the space because of continued "accidents" by our pup and that problem went away. After a month of usage, I am completely satisfied with this product.Customer Review: Used to like it...

This pen WAS great. My little boy who is 17 months old got this around Xmas time last year. We were using it and it was working great. After a while the tighteners started falling off and worse yet, dropping itty bitty screws randomly without warning. As you all know a 1 year old WILL put shiny little things in their mouths. Three times now I have found screws on the floor from the gates. Thankfully, I found them, not my baby boy. It's something I will contact consumer services about since I think these screws are a complete danger/choking hazard to toddlers, and pets for that matter. I purchased 2 of these sets and trying to contact the company is a JOKE. They want the gates back, they want ME to ship them back and then wait for weeks for a possible replacement, if THEY find them to be defective, YEAH OK!! My extremely gifted climber was out of control and so I ordered this play yard. She had already managed to escape our 22" Todays Kids play yard and so I was shopping for something 30" or so. This one fits the bill and has been goood so far. I have had it for a month. I also have the 2 panel extension which creates a "playroom" that is inviting and spacious enough for a couple more people to come inside, sit down, and play.
Now, my toddler is contained and the mess is contained. Owning the play yard has inspired me to organize her toys, putting some back, as I rotate them in and out of the yard. My daughter has benefitted from the "new again" toys, thus making confinement less of a drag. Since we now have all of her toys exclusively in the play yard, she actually wants to go inside her "playroom".

We love the flexibility of this gate. We live in a split-level home with many sets of stairs throughout. Rather than gating off each set of stairs, we bought this playyard to use in our family room where we spend most of our time and it's worked out great. While we're in the room with the baby, we leave the playyard open and extend the panels to just block off a portion of the room so she can't get to all the cords dangling from our desk and other no-no areas. When we need to step out (to use the bathroom, get stuff from the car, etc.), we just close the gate and lock baby inside. She doesn't particularly care to see the walls closing in around her, but she ends up amusing herself just fine with all her toys in it with her. It's been a real lifesaver and we'd defintely recommend it!
