Customer Review: Took 3 tries, but I still love it.

I wish I bought this sooner. My sister had this monitor and I immediately wanted one when I saw the quality. My kid was already over one year old, but it has still been worth every penny. However, the one I bought was defective and did not work.
The instructions say do not take it back to the store, but call the manufacturer. Summer customer service was fantastic. They sent me a new one within days along with a shipping label for them to cover the cost to return the defective original.
Unfortunately, the second one did not work either. I would have given up at that point, but I knew the quality of my sisters monitor. Customer service was very understanding and gave me a third one along with another shipping label.
The third monitor works perfect. I highly recommend this video monitor.
If my baby wakes during the night, I can look at the monitor and see if she is trying to go back to sleep, or if she is at the point of needing help (without trying to judge just by the cry).
Also, the grandparents love watching every move she makes while she sleeps.

We have purchased it when our son was about 7 months old, using the audio monitor before. I guess the price of it was the main thing that kept me from buying it.
Now I'm thinking I should have done it right from the moment my son was born. It is absolutely a great idea to have one, as it saves you a lot of time and effort just to look into monitor versus guess work of what was this sound - just a stir? Or going into the room to check on baby and waking him up.
It works fairly good along our wireless network, and lots of other different-frequency equipment, the only spot I have problems sometimes is in my bedroom which was built out of the crawl space underneath the garage - so it is mostly concrete walls there.
But still I get a decent picture.
The only tip - if your baby is always sleeping in the darkened room - you might as well buy a black and white one, as the picture is always going to be in nightshot anyways.
The bigger screen is a plus too, considering the fact that you're going to watch the whole crib and the picture is going to be pretty small.

I highly recommend this product. I tried several other models and brands of color video baby monitors before this system and none were as reliable. I tried several others before this one because I was reluctant to purchase a 900mhz system when 2.4mhz were available however this model provides more consistent sound and video than the 2.4mhz models of other brands of video monitor systems that I tried. The color display works best in rooms that are well lit but overall the system provides very clear display in light and dark rooms. The rechargable built in battery lasts a long time and gives a warning that the battery is dying when the monitor starts to fade. Usually the monitor doesn't have any extra background noise and only occasionally has a blast of static. The microphone works well to pick up baby's breathing. I've had the product for several weeks now and have never had to enter the baby's room due to problems with the system. It is really easy to use in the middle of the night due to the large "snooze" type button on top which turns on the video. UPDATED REVIEW 11.26.09. We had almost two great years with this product and used it HEAVILY. But the battery life is shorter and the static has gotten so bad we can't use it anymore. This seems to be somewhat common, and I am disappointed there isnt a reasonably priced option for us to update our monitor. (camera still great). Warranty is only good for a year, and this problem often doesnt occur until after a year, funny how that goes. If we want to replace it, we pay to return monitor and an additional 104 for a refurbished unit. Bummer....
We did a ton of research before buying this product a year ago. My daughter has just turned one and I still love it as much as I ever did. Quality is great, reliability great, VERY easy to pack up and move if you want to bring it on overnight trips. The price is the price because its a great product, simple as that. The only "negative" I have read here that I'll agree with is that the color quality isnt that great. But I worry about anybody who needs to see their baby in color. Buy this, you wont regret it.

I had a regular monitor that I never used - hearing noises without being able to see made me paranoid so I turned it off (we can hear noises clearly throughout the house anyway).
At first we were skeptical about monitors, but then I visited a friend's house and she had one. I bought mine immediately. The picture is clear day and night (although the contrast is a bit high) and the sound quality and range excellent. The indicator lights are useful too.
Being able to watch baby as she sleeps gives great peace of mind and teaches you about your baby...how they get themselves to sleep, if they are asleep or just quiet. You can see when they are starting to stir, which gives you time to prepare for when they need you.
Babysitters love it!!! They can feel reassured that all is well without going into baby's room.
I love the small size of the portable monitor...you can take it anywhere, even across the street!
Forget about the color function...I have yet to see any, but it is not important to me.
