We had this monitor for our first child for 4 years and it worked good except I didn't like that the volume control and the on/off switch were the same so it was hard to get the right volume each night. That was just a small complaint, though. Overall we liked it. Good picture and reasonable price. Well, it broke when we started using it for our second child so we bought the newer Summer monitor at Babies R Us since that was the only model they carried. The volume control was awful. At the lowest setting it was REALLY loud and we couldn't sleep. We took that one back and ordered the older Quiet Sounds version we had before.....the picture didn't work. We sent that one back and ordered another....the sound had a clicking problem. We sent that one back and ordered yet another....the sound had a clicking problem on that one, too. UGH! We finally bought a Safety 1st monitor for the higher price at Babies R Us. It works, but the picture isn't as clear as our original Summer. What a pain.Customer Review: This is a MUST HAVE item!

I love this monitor so much! I am watching my son sleep right now as I play on the computer in another room. I can take the monitor anywhere in the house with me and watch my little one while I cook, take a shower, watch tv.... I can hear him breathing right now.
I only use this during his naps in the daytime, because at night he sleeps with me (I'm an attatchment-parenting mama). This product gives great peace of mind. I like the fact that, on the few occasions where I didn't have the volume turned up high enough, the little lights lit up when my son made a sound and that caught my eye. I don't know how I would get anything done while my son sleeps if I just had the old sound monitors. I would be running to check on him all the time. The only problem I have is that if I take the monitor to the complete opposite end of the house from where he is then the picture quality gets a little grainy, but not much. Usually I'm just a room or two away, and the picture and sound are perfect.

We went ahead and splurged on this monitor and it was worth every penny! My baby is 3 months old now and it has given us peace of mind since he was born. You can use the monitor with sound, or just use the sound without the monitor. At first, we slept with the monitor on (which is fairly bright!), but after a couple of days, we turned the monitor off at night and just slept with the sound on. This way, when we heard the baby crying or stirring, you could turn the monitor on and see what he was up to without getting out of bed. We were amazed at how clear the picture was, both with normal lighting and at night with infrared.It's also light and easy to move, so when we changed rooms, the monitor came with us. We have not encountered much static and the sound is very clear. One time, I was even able to detect and correct a toilet running in the bathroom next to the baby's room!
I would definetly recommend this monitor, especially to first time parents who want peace of mind!

This video monitor gave us such peace of mind when we brought our son home from the hospital. Our camera is on the wall looking down on the crib and I have a great view of Sean. It helps figure out the different cries in those first few weeks: is he just fussy/sleepy? Is he sucking his hands? Has he kicked off all his blankets? Not only those, but also when I wake up at night and he ISN'T crying, I can simply turn and look to ensure everything is okay. Regarding other comments, the video reception is very good, especially the infrared at night. I've only had to adjust the antenna once or twice to improve reception. The audio does have a bit of static, but in relation to other background sounds such as his CD player, it is fairly minimal. Naturally at night when all is quiet the static is more noticeable, but has never interfered with either my husband's or my sleep. I highly recommend this video monitor and can't imagine only having an audio monitor.Customer Review: WASTE OF MONEY

The purpose of a baby monitor is to free you up for household chores while still allowing you to know that junior is safe and sound. Audio does this nicely. Video only works if you sit there and watch it (which defeats the purpose of freeing you up for chores), and if it has audio, as this one does, then why even HAVE video?? Video is an unnecessary expense, because just what is there to SEE inside a baby's crib anyway? There shouldn't be anything dangerous in there anyway!!!! Save the $ and get an audio. As someone else pointed out, reception isn't always good on this model either. Video monitors are a ploy to get well-meaning parents, eager to protect their children ("if you don't get this, you're an irresponsible parent!"), to spend more money. Look at the price tag on this compared to a simple audio. Sell yours on ebay, spend ten bucks for a good audio monitor, and put the rest in baby's college fund where you'll get much more use out of it.
