We debated about the true necessity of having a video monitor, but I have never regretted the decision! I love that I can check on our daughter without having to go in her room and disturb her, or monitor her as we ride out a rough moment when a parent going to her room would only re-escalate the situation. I had a very difficult time making the transition from bassinet (in our room) to crib in her own room, but I was able to lay by the monitor and watch her every move from our room without starting bad habits of our daughter expecting me to be in her room with her. The video monitor has really given me that piece of mind! My only concern is with the static we experience. I usually turn the sound down at night and leave our doors open so I can hear her, (our rooms are very close,) using the video to check on her when I hear a noise.Customer Review: worked for awhile

This monitor was a gift from my registry. It worked for a little while, then the picture on the video screen wouldn't leave after the video was shut off. I contacted the company and they sent me another monitor. The customer service was great, which is why I'm giving this product 3 stars. The new monitor was worse than the other one. I couldn't get a picture in whatsoever and the monitor and transmitter were in the same spot as the last one. I would've been better off keeping the old one, at least the picture came in OK. I had purchased the safety first monitor for $20 while this monitor was sent back to the company, and it works great. Granted, its only audio, but my daughter's room is right down the hall and I found that I didn't miss the video while waiting for the new monitor. We have used this monitor as well as the Safety First Monitor. This one is far better. We went through about 4 of the Safety First ones due to the loss of night vision. They kept replacing them but eventually we got sick of all the phone calls so when our second child was born, we bought the Quiet Sounds Monitor last June. We have had no problems until last week when the connection between the power cord & the camera broke (something with the the connection points within the camera as I bought & tried a different plug from Radio Shack). Anyway, we called the 1-800 number that came with the monitor & explained the problem. I lied and said I only had it for 3-4 months. In about 4 days I had a brand new working monitor!!! I only have to send back the old one, which they gave me the labels so I don't have to pay shipping.Customer Review: Too bright in a dark nursery

I thought this monitor would work in the dark the way our Night Vision does on our video camera, where you can't even see the beam of infrared that allows it to pick up the image. It sort of does, but there is a fairly bright green light that shines from the part that goes in the nursery and it must be facing the baby for the monitor to pick up the image. It shines light directly all through her crib, like a sort of nightlight, only too bright for her to ignore. Maybe if we had started off with it, she'd never know the difference, but we got this now that she is pulling up in the crib, and she's old enough now to wonder what that light is, to keep staring at it, and NOT go back to sleep. Sadly, we'll have to return it for this reason. However, the reception was just fine. It's too bad it needed that much light to work.Customer Review: Pay a little more for a better picture.

We bought this video monitor after our daughter turned one. I didn't think I would need it with having the voice monitor, but it was nice to see what she was doing at bed times.I could also see when she woke up without opening the door and disturbing her.(door closed due to cat)We thought it was great. I like the easy on and off video button at the top and the sound is very clear and loud. It also lit up the crib at night which was kind of nice also. It was just enough light, like a nite lite. The down fall was the clicking noise constantly. So we decided to try the Safety 1st brand($50 more)Wow the picture was sooo much clearer. No constant clicking. Not as easy to switch video off and the sound is not as loud as I would like it to be but for a better picture it's worth paying a little more, plus you have a tv to boot.
