Customer Review: Better than I expected

We ordered this changing table because it was made by the same company (Stork Craft) and was the same color (espresso) as our crib (Storkcraft Tuscany). Honestly, I was not impressed with the way it looked online, but was okay with the price and the fact that it matched, so we got it. My husband thought he would be able to get it put together in a 1/2-hour or so...yeah, right! He's very mechanically-inclined, but had difficulty getting everything together due to holes not being drilled all the way through, etc., which is a problem if you don't have an electric drill to finish out the holes that should have been drilled at the manufacturing plant. It probably took a very frustrating 2 to 2-1/2 hours all together from start to finish. That said, after it was complete, we both commented on how sturdy and how surprisingly nice it was for the price and for the plywood/particle board materials.
I did want to add two comments, though: 1.) The table itself is much lower than I expected. I could have read the printed dimensions to figure this out beforehand, but I just thought that all changing tables were of a fairly standard height. I am 5'8" and my husband is 5'11", and we both think it is just about 3-4 inches shorter than what would be optimally comfortable for us. For shorter parents, this would be perfect. 2.) The changing pad that comes with the table fits perfectly, but it is a thin, flimsy pad, not one of those nice, thick, contoured pads like you can buy separately in baby stores. However, I do not think that a thicker pad would look right on this table, so we are going to use the one that came with it. My cats seem to think it's comfy enough for a nap, so I'm sure baby won't mind for quick diaper changes. Also, we used a Summer Infant changing pad cover and it fit perfectly after washing/drying.
