I read the reviews about this product prior to purchasing it and although the common thread about it being too soft was evident, I bought two anyway. I'm not disappointed with the trays so far. My oldest son is 3, and he used the tray on a 3 hour drive. He had a blast crashing his cars on the table top and I'm glad I had an area to place his snacks so that fries and nuggets weren't smashed between the car seat cushions. My youngest son is 1 1/2 and he had an issue with the tray sitting on his legs the very first time he used it, on a 20 minute ride home from day-care. After that first time he was ok with it. I definitely recomend it from a practical stand point but as a mom I know some kids just won't like using it, personal preferences and all. I gave it a four because although it has the lips, on occasion things do roll off somehow...maybe its my kids, and because the pockets are in weird places so the kids can't reach some of the things in them espcially small things like crayons.Customer Review: Better than I expected

I bought this thinking that it was going to be a waste of money- but there was really nothing else out there for my son for when we fly. This has a become a must have product for traveling with us. It enabled my son to eat his meal on the plane- since no one using a car seat can use the plane tray- plus he was able to play with his cars, color, use play doh, and play with his sticker books. The side pockets were great for storing all of his items and having them ready for when he asked- noo more reaching under the seat under the car seat in a tight plane to get his crayons. Actually made the flight not nearly as stressful having to entertain him the whole time. The try is soft which I felt was safer- plus it folds up pretty small- so i put the tray with his travel toys into the packaging- the put them into the car seat in the travel bag- very easy to get around the airport- and you can smooch the try into a much smaller size and put into a back pack or duffel bag. I bought this for my four year old daughter. I also got her the Alex Valet. They're both great, but for different reasons. The Star Kids tray is great because it fastens right up against her - which is good for snacks etc. The pockets were immediately handy for all the stuff I normally have to hand her (and take back from her) during car trips. The surface was firm, but not hard. I would say it's less firm than it looks in the picture. I would recommend this for younger kids over something like the Alex Valet.
Drawbacks are:
- It's hard to get unclipped from the side furthest from you.
- It's awkward to store it/set it aside when the pockets are filled with things (they tend to fall out).
- For booster seats it blocks access to drink/snack holders, and doesn't really provide one as a substitute.
I do like this tray, but I will use the Alex in my car, and put this in my husband's car as our second tray.
Customer Review: Good Solution for Packable Travel Tray

We picked this up for use with a car seat on a plane ride and it worked out great. I wasn't sure about the soft surface and my husband was concerned that it would be too big and encroach on others but it worked out fine. It was easy to strap across our son and his car seat (much easier than actually trying to get the carseat latched into the airplane seat). There are latches on both sides of the wrap-around strap so it is easy to attach no matter what side the car seat is on. The surface was able to hold our laptop to watch a movie. There was room on either side of the car seat to let the side flaps down and those would have been handy for his water bottle and toys, if it had been a longer flight. We were able to fold up the tray and stick it with the car seat into the car seat carrier we use to carry the carseat through the airport. We haven't used it in the car as yet, but it would have been very handy on a road trip last summer . . . :-)Customer Review: A Lifesaver!

After using these for the first time on a cross country trip with my 2 & 3 year olds, I would not be without them ever again! The pockets ensured they would not lose their markers or juice cup. The sides guaranteed nothing rolling or sliding off into the "no man's land" of the car floor during our multiday car trip. I would recommend this product to anyone with toddler or preschool age children. Having these helped me to provide activities to break up the trip and made my kids better travelers. Other products hooked on the back of the seat and left a large gap where I had my kids' booster seats adjusted or were permanently attached to their seat. I wanted something I could adjust and choose to strap down or not. Not to mention the safety factor of being totally collapsible. In the event of an accident I did not have to worry about what this product would do. It cleaned up like a breeze, and I keep it in the van for a just in case anytime.
