Customer Review: Great Concept- falls short in delivery

Great concept to have a travel tray for all of the toys, gadgets, and snacks that my 2 year old daughter likes to have with her on longer car rides. We do frequent 1.5 hour trips to my parent's house- so I thought this would be a great product for us.
First, my daughter didn't like it. She didn't like having something rest on her legs. She kept trying to push it off. I insisted she try it for at least a little while. She colored for about 2 minutes, and then wanted the thing off. Because I had buckled it around her seat, I was not able to help her take it off until I pulled over to get into the back.
So, then we tried the tray without securing it around her seat. It was a little better, but the tray was just not hard enought to really support toys and coloring. Crayons kept rolling onto her lap.
It did fit our carseat (AlphaSport). I love the side net bags- I wish her carseat had them. It would be very safe in an accident. It stored well in our car. I could see this working well on an airplane as well- so your son/daughter had a larger surface than the tiny airplane trays.
In the end, after months of trying periodically, we retired it to the goodwill pile. I could see this as a great product, it unfortuantely did not work well for us.

So far these trays are exactly as advertised. We purchased two of them to use with our twin 3 year olds on our upcoming plane trip. We put them on the car seats today and pretended we were on the airplane to get the kids ready for the trip. My son played matchbox cars on his tray for 30 minutes and seemed to really enjoy having his own little play area. I don't feel they are flimsy at all, just made of foam and vinyl as advertised. I think they are made to sit on your child's lap and perhaps the flimsy comments are from people using car seats with high sides on the lap area. I could see if you had a carseat with really high sides where the child sits, this would cause a lot of gap between the tray and the child's lap, causing it to possible cave in the middle a little bit, but again, not more than I expect with the product description. I feel better having the softness and flexibility for safety reasons than I would a hard tray. Another nice aspect is the clip on each side, this way you can undo the tray from either side, something handy in cramped spaces I assume.
I will update this post after the trip but so far I am very happy I bought these to use on the airplane, shipping was very fast as well which I always appreciate.

I highly recommend this product. It is well worth the money and already getting TONS of use. I use it in the car when my son is in his car seat, on my jogging stroller, and on my umbrella stroller as well. Now on the umbrella stroller it kind of hangs but not so bad that it is unusable. I just pull the adjustable strap as tight as I can around the stroller. By the way, I pull the strap around the jogger stroller too to make it work. I only pull it around my son's body, as recommended by the manufacturer, when he's in his car seat.
The side pockets 2 on each side, 4 total, hold quite a bit. Sippy cup, small toys, small books, snacks. Very helpful that way.
This is a MUST buy, in my opinion, for the reasons I mentioned. But, most importantly I find it most helpful in making my drive time with my son (now a new toddler) safe because when it is time for snack I can put the snack on the tray and he can eat it at his leisure and I don't have to keep looking down to measure out more and then reach back to hand it to him. Additionally, I put little activities he's able to do on it, like books to look through and small toys to play with.

Customer Review: Not perfect, but it works better than nothing!

We bought two of these for our boys for a road trip over the summer and for the most part they worked ok. They are really good for keeping the MAJORITY of the crumbs/goldfish/cheerios, etc out of their car seats and it gives them a place to play with small toys while on the road. The downside as noted in several reviews are:
*It works better with older children/toddlers than with younger ones. (ie. it fit better around my 4-year old than around my 2-year old.)
* It DOES slant down towards the child so many things on the try while being contained - may end up in the child's lap.
*Once on the carseat it is not removable without stopping the car and getting out and unlatching it from the car seat and also - when stopping for rest stops/restroom breaks on the road it can be a bit tedious to latch/unlatch around the carseat every single time.
*Its not a FLAT board - and its not sturdy - probably for car safety reasons - so I don't know how good it would be for writing on or coloring.
All of that being said, it is better than nothing and it is larger than the other trays we researched - and we also liked the pockets on the sides for storing toys and sippy cups.

I have BRITAX Roundabout to go with this tray. Fit very nice and tight because the strap can be adjusted.
my daughter already plays in it with paper and pen =D looking forward to bring this in airplane with her carseat!

**UPDATE**
We use this to travel internationally. It fits great since we got the bulkseat on the plane. So she has her own tray she can use for playing and drawing.
The only thing is that, the foam was not sturdy enough since it is made lightweighted (so that it can fold well). The handcurve on the britax roundabout made the end of the tray a little slump down. So this is not an even tray.
I did not use it for her food tray just because I worried it will tip off and made a huge mess in the flight. and worried also that it will be hard to clean on the corner side of the tray and the side tray wall.
The material is mostly like a disposable tablecloth for the party (of course with more weight and better quality than that). So you can wipe it.
For the car use, it hold up verywell to keep my daughter entertained with whatever toys put in front of her.
