Purchased this stairway gate installation kit after looking at a number of different systems to attach to banister posts on both sides of my stairs. I did not have an even surface to screw into on either side and was less than enthusiastic about creating holes in the posts. This solution seemed to be the most elegant of all that I looked at. Although a bit pricey, I am extremely happy with the product. Installation was easy despite relatively weak directions. Spacers were included in the kit that allow getting the vertical wood strip exactly perpendicular, just took a couple of minutes to figure out they snap to the wood strip not the plastic. Once you have the square, wood sides to attach a gate to, I believe any baby gate would work well. Overall, I'm very happy with the product. I could hang on this gate and not move it an inch.Customer Review: On the Fence

Well firstly we have a stairway that has round posts all the way to the floor. So we need to order another piece to make it work. No where in the descriptions does it say there is only one round post adaptor, I just says "use the round post adapter for round posts". LAME. Secondly it has the worst instructions ever. So terrible. The pictures are terrible. It does not tell you what tools you need. The screws are poor quality and too long. For all the people who say it needs washers... it comes with washers. It also does not seem so safe if the posts are tapered in any way. It is very difficult to install if you only have 2 hands... Oh wait. And lastly this product is really expensive!!!! But it would appear that there is nothing else in the world that does the same thing.Customer Review: The perfect part for newel post gate installation!

First I purchased a top-of-stairs gate that was to attach to my woodwork without damage. I found that the gate hinge was too tall to install under our banister AND it required that I put holes in our wood - so I bought this kit (and a shorter gate). The kit is just right! There are no holes in our woodwork, I could trim it to fit under the banister, and I installed it myself quite easily. The kit also made a secure connection, so there is no wobbling. I immediately bought another kit to install the first (too tall) gate on our back stairs without damaging our wood (and threw away the pieces that came with the gate). And, by the way, installing the gates is a lot harder than this kit! I definitely recommend this product.Customer Review: Best gate out there, period

We went through 4 different gates for top and bottom of stairs before we got to this one. This gate was the cheapest out of them all, but also the best. We connected it to our banister with the Kid Co kit so we didn't have to drill into the poles. In fact, we liked the gates so much we replaced the Summer Extra Wide walk through gate from our family room to dining room with yet another Evenflo gate. Not to mention the wood looks great...and our daughter shakes the gate and tried to climb on it (she is not successful of course...) And it is safe and secure. I like the way it latches, I don't question its safety like I did a few other gates with a little lever securing them. Love that we had an option to drilling in our 2 ballisters, but first the production descrpition should clearly read that the kit in only for one ballister (maybe I missed it or maybe it just needs to be called out for moms with fuzzy brains?) We were in tghe process of installing the gate and realized we needed to order a second kit pronto, so install was delayed. Second the product instructions are horrible. We saw from other reviews that the diagrams are swapped, but there neds to be much more detail about the alignment of the connectors and screws. It took multiple tries to get it alligned, but we are so happy to know that when it comes down to take the gates down that our banister is still intact!
