Baby Products Reviews of South Shore Furniture, Cotton Candy Collection, Changing Table with 2 Pull-Out Shelves, Pure WhiteCustomer Review: Cheap and ridiculous to assemble Summary: 1 Stars
My husband and I laughed when we saw the 40-step instruction book that has zero written instructions and is all diagrams. Aside from the diagrams being very difficult to follow and understand, all the parts have #'s (like a flat head screw = #99 while round head screw that is almost identical = #100). We had to skip steps 11 and 12 until we could see how those pieces would be used in final construction because the directions were so unclear. In the end, we were missing 8 nails and had a surplus of plastic dowels. The hardware is sectioned into plastic bags without rhyme or reason. Aside from a difficult assembly, this is a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP quality table/bureau. I'm a little nervous about using it with our newborn but since we spent the 4 hours assembling it I can't imagine trying to send it back to the company and starting over. We're going to make the best of it but I would definitely say it's better to spend a few more bucks on something more substantial or even check out Ikea. I think their product would have been a better choice over this one. Obviously, NOT recommended (especially if you aren't handy, which by the way, we are).
Customer Review: Nice quality for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I'm giving the product 4 stars because the changing table's box was pretty beat up when it came in and one part was chipped (a thin piece of molding that fits on the front). I called the company about it, and the woman on the phone was extremely nice and apologetic. They sent the replacement piece out the next day and emailed me the tracking info.
The table took my husband about 3 hours to assemble, but he said the directions were pretty clear (it was just a lot of parts to assemble). The drawers slide out smoothly, but not too smoothly that they would fly open at you when you pull them. The slide out drawers in the cabinet section are nice because they have wood at the back of them to prevent anything from falling off the back of the shelf. The changing section itself is pretty large and has plenty of room to keep changing supplies in the section next to where the changing pad goes. I chose this changing table because later you can remove the wood on the top of the table to make it a regular dresser (if it isn't too beat up by then!).
Customer Review: DO NOT PURCHASE!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this for our nursery because I liked the look, design, and ofcourse the price. After everything that my husband and I have been through, I wish I would have spent $500 and got something decent and less stressful to put together! First we were missing crucial parts and we had the manufactuer send replacements (for free) but it took them took 2 weeks because they are out of Canada, then they sent us the wrong parts...I demanded that they overnight the correct part, which they did. On one of the last steps it required you have some foreign tool for a screw to put in, we didn't have it and my husband had to substitute with some that we had. The changer came with 3 large dents in it, and scratches extremely easily, also the drawer slides are all plastic, so you have to be very careful when using them. From start to finish this thing took over a month to put together...along with many arguements with the hubby in between! So not worth it, spend a little more and keep your sanity!
Customer Review: missing parts, terrible quality, horrible installation instructions, avoid at all cost Summary: 1 Stars
we were excited to get the changing table for our first kid.. as everybody indicated.. assembly instructions are horrible.. to add to the misery, basic installation parts (metal slides) for the drawers were missing in the original box.. after putting the whole table together, it was extremely frustrating to find the table was still useless. only solution amazon had was to send a duplicate 120lb box which the fedex guy was unable to bring down from his truck himself and needed my help. southshore customer service was even more astounding and suggested that a duplicating or missing parts in this peice of furniture is very common.. to add insult to injury, the price dropped by $75 (no wonder) in less than 30 days and amazon ofcourse will not match it unlike other stores.. i suggest staying away from this product.. it may be cheap but its not worth it.
Customer Review: Looks nice but CHEAP quality Summary: 2 Stars
Don't be fooled by the clean look of this changing table- it scrapes easily, revealing cheap wood material underneath. More importantly to note, the assembly is near-impossible (took my husband a week's span, and he can usually out things together in a couple of hours!) and even once you follow the vague direction booklet to the "T," the door kept falling off the hinges so we just left it off so as not to pose a danger to our newborn. Unfortunately, the dresser remained dangerous (what with peeling paint/wood, sharp edges) so we were forced to return it.
Not recommended, unless they upgraded the quality since I bought it a year a go (for a cheaper price, might I add).
