Customer Review: Better chances playing nickel slots

Just got this product at a yard sale. Everything works, inasmuch as it ever works for most people. The light show looks nice, I guess, and the music/nature sounds are tolerable. It's cool that you can turn on the "soother" from the monitor unit.
However, like many of the reviewers, I got a "clicker" -- periodic wierd clicking/stuttering noise, every second or so. If you put the reciever on the lowest possible volume, you don't notice the clicking much, and can hear moderately loud sounds if you're lucky.
The problem is absolutely, 100% for sure the transmitter. How do I know? I have two other baby monitors (don't ask). Both operate in a similar frequency band. Both recievers (one Evenflo and one newer FP) will click VERY loudly if the Soothing Dreams transmitter is turned on. This means that you cannot use another baby monitor of any brand (that operates in a similar frequency) while the Soothing Dreams base station is powered up -- you can change channels, it doesn't matter: the base station apparently is putting out quite a lot of power and bleeding over into other frequencies. The FCC should never have approved this unit.
From reading some of the reviews here, it looks like some units work fine, while others have this serious manufacturing defect -- either that, or all the 5-star reviewers never turned their monitor up past "1" on the volume knob. Or, I guess, they're shills that work for Fisher Price. Probably the first one, though. Anyway, I think this model has been discontinued for some time, but I continue to see them sell new online for 50 bucks or more. DO. NOT. BUY! You never know if you're going to get one that works, and odds are not in your favor. Normally I wouldn't feel like wasting 5 bucks at a yard sale to find this out is such a big deal, but that's 25 toys out of the quarter bin, some of which were pretty nice. Don't make the same mistake I did.
