Baby Products Reviews of Sliding Cabinet Lock

Customer Review: Worthless
Summary: 1 Stars

My 1 and 1/2 year old daughter easily removed this lock. It's not worth the money. I threw mine in the trash.
A great alternative is the "Safety First Slide cabinet slide lock".

Customer Review: Excellent Latch!
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought these the other day at a local store and can't rave about them enough. Went online to buy more as they are absolutely fantastic. Keeps our 1 year old crawler/toddler out of the cabinets. Easy to remove with one hand if you position the lock on the top, squeeze it between thumb and middle finger meanwhile using index finger of same hand to slide lock open. Love them in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Do note that they are only for cupboard doors where the handles are sufficiently close to one another. Definitely recommended!

Customer Review: Easy, convenient, flexible
Summary: 5 Stars

We live in an old house and the cabinet pulls in our kitchen are very close together. Lots of other models don't work for a such a set-up because they don't join close enough together when locked, but this works very well. It is easy to use for adults and, so far, our 15 month old is safely locked out of our kitchen cabinets!

Customer Review: Pretty good at this point, but...
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this for a glass cabinet that has our VCR, cable box, etc. in it. It allows the doors to be pulled open an inch or two...as far as I can figure, there's no way to tighten it enough that the doors don't open at all. Because they have glass panels, I'm a little worried that the baby opening and closing the doors forcefully is going to cause them to break. The other thing is that this lock bends quite a lot. Because the side with the locking mechanism (in the Kidco picture, the right side I think) has the piece that sticks out quite a ways, it's a baby magnet. She wants to use it to stand and then she yanks on it. My daughter is only 10 months old, so right now it isn't an issue, but I'm afraid that when she gets a little older (and a little stronger), the baby will yank it so hard that it's going to break, or that it will snap off the knobs. For now, though, it's serving its purpose. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Customer Review: Works well but doesn't last
Summary: 3 Stars

We bought three of these to keep my 18 month old out of kitchen and bathroom cabinets. At first they were tough to get on and off but it seems to get easier over time. 4 months later and my daughter has managed to break one just by yanking on it. A small piece of plastic used in the ratcheting mechanism broke off. It makes me question the durability and reliability.

It's a shame because I would have given these 4 or 5 stars instead.
