I think feeders are great. You can put ice cubes (or other frozen food) in for teething or a mouth boo-boo (or for my daughter who just likes to suck on them!), give a baby learning to chew some practice, and offer fresh foods and veggies that may otherwise be difficult to serve safely (blackberries or other seeded fruits, raw apple or carrot pieces, grapes).
I really like this feeder compared to others on the market. The mesh bag is removable and replaceable, you can chill the handle to help keep food cool, and it has a cap! The cap is so useful - you can pre-fill the feeder and cap it when you're going out, and I've used the cap to keep my fridge clean when my daughter wasn't in the mood to use the feeder and I wanted to save the food for later. Chilling the handle is a nice bonus, but I haven't actually used this feature (I just haven't seen a similar feature in other feeders). I like how the handle twists into the ring; much easier to clean! And speaking of easier to clean, the removable mesh bags are probably the best feature. You can have on feeder and multiple bags, so you can have dirty bags in the dishwasher and still be able to use the feeder. Also, removing the bags means you can get into the nooks and crannies and seams much better, or, if you get a particularly yucky bag, you can toss it! I know a lot of people that didn't want to clean banana out of it. My daughter doesn't really like to pick up the banana pieces and much prefers the bag for it, and it does take work to clean out, but I do it anyway (I rinse and scrub out what I can, run it through the dishwasher, brush out all the leftover dried banana fibers, and rinse it again; I use one bag for banana and banana only).
I would like to see them make a feeder with handles on the sides of the ring as opposed to on the end, or some sort of knob to grip from the side - I feel that it would be much easier for younger babies to navigate to their mouths that way. Even my experienced daughter has some difficulty when there are heavier fruits in there (like grapes) and I don't want to pack the bag full.
Overall, though, I think this is a great product and a must-have for any baby!
