Baby Products Reviews of Sassy Snap and Squirt Sea CreaturesCustomer Review: Dangerous, Can't Tell Mold is Growing Inside Until There's a Lot of it Summary: 1 Stars
I loved this product at first. Bright colors, nice shapes, great in & out of the tub.
HOWEVER, and this is very important, even with proper care water can easily get trapped, causing mold & mildew to grow inside the toy.
This is the worst part, YOU CAN'T SEE THE MOLD UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE. Several posters mentioned seeing mold squirt out and rings around the edges, well, mine aren't that bad yet. My first clue was dark spots showing through the orange crab. Several of the other toys are darker colored and you wouldn't be able to see this. You're going to be squirting clear, mold infected water long before there is so much mold you can see it squirting out.
I considered purchasing these again and just disinfecting them once a week and replacing them every so often because they are inexpensive, however since you can't tell there is mold growing in the toys until there is a ton of it, I'm searching for something new. I'm considering the Sassy Stay Clean Silly Squirts.
Customer Review: Cute and Colorful, but very awkward. Summary: 2 Stars
First of all, the item pictures shows twice as many as you really get. you only get 8, i was expecting more. they fit together in a very odd way, and young children will have a difficult time figuring out how exactly which part goes in which as well as actually pushing them together. they're sturdy but the hard plastic is tough for even my 3 yr old to push together. its really awkward. these are nothing like the beads that are for regular play which are a harder plastic and its easy for a baby to figure out which part goes into which.
also you have to worry about the black mold/mildew that collects when you have bath toys like this. they cannot properly dry after use and this nasty stuff collects and there isn't any real good way of cleaning it out.
Customer Review: Unsanitary Summary: 2 Stars
I bought these for the bath, and my son likes them (especially the little crab). They are ok as small toys, but I will not use them in the bath, because they are hollow and have a hole in them so you can fill them up and then squirt water out of them. The problem is that the hole is designed so that you can never get all of the water out, they constantly have water sitting in them. I think it is unsanitary and the sitting water will cause bacteria to grow, and there is no easy way to clean them out (except maybe boiling and squeezing them to fill them with the boiling water??) But you would have to boil them after every bath. I prefer to get toys that can dry thoroughly between baths.
Customer Review: Cheap and simple... Summary: 3 Stars
I don't love these but for the price and the fact that quite a few bath toys on the market last only so long - these are okay. True some are hard to snap together, but even when snapped together, it's a bit strange looking. My daughter loves bath time and has a collection of bath toys and these are among them. They don't get much attention. And the squirters are hard for her (but she's only 8 months, I didn't think much of it).
So if you want to add to your kids collection or are looking for something cheap, cute, and short-lasting - these are not bad.
The mesh bag was a great idea, but the suction cups are a bit weak.
Customer Review: Fun, for a time Summary: 3 Stars
My kids, age 4 and 9 months, both enjoy playing with these. They're great colors, and the little bag keeps them all together. My one complaint though, is that it's really hard to get all of the water out of the creatures. Being that they are bath toys, I assumed they wouldn't hold water (re: MOLD) like they do. They are made of a very hard plastic, and it's hard to squeeze all of the water out of them during clean up. And squeezing some of them permanently distorts their shape. I imagine we'll be tossing them soon, as there's no way to keep the insides from molding--and who whats that in the tub with their kiddos?
