Baby Products Reviews of Sassy Baby Mealtime On the Go Feeding Set, Colors May VaryCustomer Review: Works great for bento Summary: 5 Stars
This is my go-to favorite lunch container for preschool-sized bento meals. I have been using the same container for more than two years and it has held up wonderfully under abuse, washing in the dishwasher (hubby even washed in on the bottom rack a few times, gasp!), baking for weeks in a hot car, etc. I can't say as much for my bento-specific containers, which cost much more. The integrated divider is a wonderful touch, since you don't have to worry about it being inadvertently thrown away or mangled by the dishwasher.
This holds plenty of food for a 2-4 year old. I often use the smaller containers separately for extra snacks. The lids are a bit tight and may be difficult for some small kids to open by themselves. I agree with the other reviewers that the included spoon isn't worth much at all. In addition, keep in mind that this is not water-tight or intended for messy, liquidy foods; because the divider doesn't reach all the way to the lid, small items may spill over it as well. It works great for my purposes, though (most common meal: half a pb&j sandwich, grapes, and baby carrots).
Customer Review: Quality is good...but tooo small Summary: 2 Stars
I read reviews that the spoon is fairly useless; it was very flat. That wasn't as big an issue for me as the size of the compartments. They didn't quite fit a full 4oz. container of Stage 2 fruits/veggies in the smaller compartments. There was left over and it would make the lids really messy. You can't remove the smaller containers to put a baby food container in it's place because of the size/shape of this set. I got the laptop lunch boxes instead and they fit a baby food container (Gerber plastic 4oz. ones) with the lid removed and fit substantially more food...though only one compartment has a lid on that brand. If you want something that will last into toddler years, for yourself, or something that can hold enough for breakfast and lunch combined...don't get this one. My ideal would have been one of the Bento boxes but I couldn't confirm the safety of the plastic those are made with. The laptop lunches are made with plastic I am more comfortable with.
Customer Review: love them Summary: 5 Stars
I have a lot of bento lunch boxes, including the laptop lunchbox. I like this one the best. It's small enough to carry around easy, but has enough room for lunch for both my toddler/pre-schooler, as well as an adult (with a sandwich outside of it). We have a few of them and use them every day. I put veggies and dip in them, yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit salad... you name it. I also love it because of the price. The laptop lunchbox I bought was outrageous, there was only one cover for the container, and the plastic smelled like the food I put in it, but the smell never goes away. This one is not like that. It never has a smell, and it's so portable, affordable, and it keeps food separate with the lids so the foods don't mix.
Absolutely perfect.
Customer Review: great item Summary: 4 Stars
I'd agree with other reviewers that very juicy things can leak, but this isn't really a problem for me. I mostly use the box to pack up the boy's lunch for his care provider, and so the box gets tucked into the fridge upright, where it won't tip or spill. It's been invaluable as we introduce solid foods - our care provider has been hesitant to feed him solids without a clear plan of what foods are allowed. Packing his lunch in this excellent box is our solution.
If we are going out and about with snacks, I just fill it with non-drippy things - waffle, fresh green beans, clementine segments, squash chunks, whatever. The box holds a goodly amount of such finger foods. We're very happy with this product!
Customer Review: Great product!! Summary: 4 Stars
I LOVE this product! I actually bought two since we're always using it and I can pack lunch and dinner for my daughter without problem. The individual containers are great for storing snacks on their own or for use together for a meal. Regardless, it is the perfect size for my one year old. This was also the only food storage container that we found that did not leak, which is a huge deal. We haven't used the spoon it comes with as it is a little too wide for my daughter, but there is enough space between the individual containers and larger lid to fit a baby spoon, too.
The only problem I've had with this product is that one of the yellow containers stained when I left carrots in it overnight.
