I absolutely hate Diaper Genies. I think they're completely useless and having to keep purchasing rings for them etc...It gets so expensive! I am so happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone. It's compact and the foot pedal is easy to use. We've put some real "bombs" in there and as soon as the lid closes down you'd never know they were there! We did purchase the scent rounds to put in the compartment in the top and it makes changing the bags easier on the nose. But if you go through diapers as much as we do; you're changing this thing every couple of days and the stink never really gets time to just sit around. Love it!Customer Review: Good pail, but...

We purchased this diaper pail simply because we didn't want to spend the money for the fancy Diaper Genies/Champs out there. The size is perfect for disposable diapers where we take the bag out every day or every other day. Target shopping bags fit perfectly in this pail. The lid keeps odors in check, but I will review again once my son starts eating solid foods.
They lose a star because there I can't find an air freshener on the market that will fit into that little compartment in the lid. The only thing that fit was a small sachet of lavender that I made. It's annoying, but doesn't make me regret buying the pail.

I bought this pail despite the reviewers who said it was too small for cloth diapers. Well, trust them, it's way to small for cloth, unless you want to wash every day. I found myself piling dirty diapers on top of it! Ew! The biggest problem is the foot pedal. Even if you're not going to use this pail for cloth diapers, the food pedal doesn't work all that well (and we had it connected correctly). Stepping on it brings the lid up about 1 inch. Not very useful. Perhaps ours was defective. Also, grocery shopping bags are too small and kitchen trash bags are too big! Save your money and get something bigger and better functioning.Customer Review: Great for use as a cat waste holder.

I use this for cleaning out our cats litter boxes twice a day and then take the bag out once a week and it does a great job of keeping the nasty smells in. I haven't gotten one of the carbon filters for it, but bet it would help the one time the smell escapes... when you open it to add more waste. We use to throw the waste out in the garage trash, but then the garage would reek. I don't know how we did without this thing and wow for under [...] bucks it was a steal! I don't have any idea how this would perform when used with diapers, but it is great for cat waste and I have 6 cats ;)

I bought this to replace a Diaper Champ that I received at my baby shower. I hated the Diaper Champ because the diapers I use have Velcro fasteners that got stuck in the plunger of the pail. This pail holds almost as many diapers as the Diaper Champ in a more compact pail. It's hands-free so my hands stay clear of the dirty diapers. It also has a tight fitting lid that keeps the dirty diaper smell out of the nursery. I am disappointed that I found it cheaper at Babies R Us after purchasing it on Amazon, but even so it is a great value. No frills but it does the job; and takes any 13 gallon bag.
