Baby Products Reviews of Safety 1st Potty 'n Step StoolCustomer Review: not a good seat for boys Summary: 2 Stars
We have been using this seat with our 2.5 year old son. The pee guard is detachable and I can't even count the number of times he's pulled it off (intentionally or accidentally) and it has landed IN the potty bowl (and its contents). To empty the bowl, you have to lift the top hinged seat up. Since I have a boy that pees against the potty guard, the pee then drips into the base of the seat (the stool part) which is divided into multiple little squares that pee gets trapped in. I have to take the whole potty into the shower and hose it down. All that to say, I wouldn't buy it again...especially for a boy!!!!
Customer Review: Tips easily Summary: 2 Stars
Bought this potty seat for my daughter to begin potty training. I liked the fact that it could be turned into a step stool and would eventually fit over an adult sized toilet. Unfortunately this potty isn't going to work for our training. My daughter is petite and trying to get her seated properly is painful as the potty tips over CONTINUOUSLY as she tries to sit. Needless to say it tips when she gets off too. The lid never stays up and always falls over onto her while she's trying to do her business. Maybe this potty will be OK for her when she's older but for now we'll be using it as a step, maybe.
Customer Review: I can't imagine a worse potty. Summary: 1 Stars
I can't not review this potty. I must try to spare other parents. The footprint is smaller than the sitting surface, so it always tips and wobbles when she tries to sit on it. This instability scares her. When it wobbles, the lid falls closed on her back, which scares her. (The lid is light and doesn't hurt, but still.) It's filled with little crevices, which I am sure would be impossible to clean if she weren't too scared of it to actually pee in it. It's trying to do too much, and it certainly does a crummy job of each task. This potty has actually set back our potty-training process.
Customer Review: Buy a more expensive one Summary: 2 Stars
Though this potty is nicely priced, it's worth it to buy a more expensive one. Though mine hasn't fallen apart like other reviewers, it does shift around on the base, allowing for spillage. The removeable receptacle in the base is way too far from the actual seat, so my daughter gets stuff ALL OVER the inside, not just in the receptacle. The inside has a criss-crossed honeycomb type pattern(see my customer image)so it's impossible to clean messes out of it. It does serve it's purpose as a potty, but I'm definatly going to buy a different one when my son is old enough for one.
Customer Review: Pot-a-Gold Summary: 4 Stars
Our grandson reciently came to live with us, nearly 2 years old and he refused to even sit on a potty.
The day our 1st pott arrived I opened the package and set the potty up in our bathroom next to the adult version hopeing this location would help.
About 15 minutes later I noticed Drake had been very quiet. As I searched the house for him I discovered him not only sitting on the pot but he had actually used it ! He is now doing very well with his training !
The product is well constructed, easy to to set up, and easy to use !
